Unrecognized device!

Hi!
Now I'm tired of the music on my mp4-player, had it for over 6 months.
I have been able to connect the player a few times correctly to the PC, but now I only get the error message: Unrecognized USB device (or something like this, I see the message in Swedish: En USB-enhet känns inte igen).

I have tried to uninstall every usb device on the PC and the let windows find them again, only problem is that it finds all But the mp4-player.

So now I'm looking for someone to help me come around this problem, I want new music on my player :)

I run Windows XP, SP2, all latest updates.

Re: Unrecognized device!

The only thing i can advise, and i'm no expert, is to try and connect it to another computer other than your own, so you could determine if it's the player's fault, or if it's something specific to your computer and the player.

been there done that......lol. try connect ur player to another USB port. Many are direct serial buses and others arn't. Just try all of them 'till it actually recognizes it.

Thanks for answers but neither of them helped me. I have tried plugin it to a other PC, but there I couldn't even get it to find the player at all, no error message, or other indicating the PC "feeling" a usb device plugged in. I have tried all 4 usb ports on my PC, 3 different cables between usb port and the mp4-player. Nothing helps, I'm considering to check the warranty if I can get a new player.
But still, if anyone thinks he/she knows how to work around this problem, post it! :)

Had the same problem when I first got my player.

Luckily my wife had a similar player with the same type of USB cable so I tried that one and it was recognised.

Have you got access to another cable to give this a go?

All the best

Yes, I have tried 3 different cables. I think I have tried most things that would help. And now I have contacted the store I bought it from, they gave me some suggestion on what I could try (I have tried all their ideas, well, it was the things I did before). So they couldn't think of anything else than that it was the player malfunctioning. So they said I should send them the player for repairing/exchange. And now I have. Only for me to wait and see :)

Best of luck !

It looks like I've fried mine, it's now as dead as a dodo! The cable became really hot when charging and now nothings happening!

I'm off to have a go at following the howto on recovering a dead player!

Should be fun.

All the best
