Is it safe to downgrade?

I have firmware version 9.0.50, and I was wondering if it was safe to downgrade(opposite of upgrade) to 9.0.48, so I can use s1res. Thanks.

lilmatt429,

NO it most certainly is NOT safe to attempt to 'downgrade' as you call it, to a earlier version of firmware. Your current v9.0.50 contains all the instructions and drivers needed to run your player correctly. If you flash an earlier version there is a total 100% guarantee you will disable your player. Because 9.0.48 or anything lower than that do not contain all those needed bits and pieces. So you're not downgrading at all. You're just flashing incompatible firmware to your player. And the odds are that you won't be able to recover it.

9.0.48 isn't extractable or themable anyway yet.
So just don't do it... be patient. Enjoy your music and vids as they are for now. The new software to theme the new firmware versions should be available soon.

Oh, okay. Thank you very much. It'll be a long wait, am I right?

More than likely. But it could be as soon as next week. Just don't know. I've heard that s1fwx just got an update, but even that doesn't extract and repair 9.0.48 or 50.
I estimate 3 to 6 months.. but it could even be longer.
