Empty Disk! Error
Got this mp3 player for my mom for christmas, Its a non-brand generic usb drive mp3 player.
Anyways, it worked perfectly forever... until recently. my mom didn't use it for a long time, and when she tried to it had a formatting error. So, I stuck it in a USB drive and Windows had to reformat it. Now, I put music in it (and the music shows up when I look at it under My Computer, yet it gives an "Empty Disk!" error Were there files in the mp3 player that made it read the music that got deleted when it got formatted? Or is there another solution? the mp3 player ia 1 gig. thanks! |
nstinson , It is virtually impossible to wipe out the mp3 players firmware or 'operating system' from a simple format because it resides on a separate chip. It sounds like the memory may have a few errors not detected by windows.
Give this a try: Plug it in and run scandisk on the player. Then format it using the Mp3 Player Disk Tool. The format with the disk tool will also determine if the memory in the player has been hacked or not. |
ok, what program is that? I searched downloads and did not find it

Did you get a mini cd with the player? The software should be on that.
If you have the cd, install the program from that.. if not you can try this one > http://www.mympxplayer.org/amv-conve...63-mb-df1.html Just install the programs and use the MP3 Player Disk Tool By the way.. are talking about just a 'mp3' player here or is it an mp4 player? |
it says "digital mp3 player"
|
Ah.. so it just plays music. Ok.
Seeing as it's only an mp3 player, pop it into the USB port, go to My Computer and right click on it with the mouse and select 'Properties > Tools > Check Now. Check both boxes that say 'Automatically fix file system errors' and 'Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors' and click 'Start' When thats finished, go to My Computer again and right click on the icon and choose "Format..." and click "Start". When thats finished retry copying the music to it and see how it goes. |
