Default Need help / advice with iClone

When I bought my Optimus X for myself I bought my wife a Nano clone from a seller on Ebay.
I don't know which chipset it is but the firmware version is
7513_SDK
2007/01/02
9.1.51
2006/01/19

Are there any updates for this thing?

It came with a few different AMV converters. The first one I tried, the movies took up the whole screen but were real laggy when they played. The second utility made the AMV about half the size of the screen.. Very small. Is this the norm?

Any advice is greatly appreciated...

Updates? No.. definitely not.
If you're already running 9.1.51 there will most certainly not be an 'update'. And if there was you would only be able to get that from the manufacturer of the player and nowhere else. Assuming that your player may be a 'no name' brand it won't, nor ever will, have an update available. (why do people think 'updating' a players firmware is the best thing for it when it's not?)
It already has all it needs to run properly. A newer version would require a newer player. So leave it's firmware the way it is.

Look at it like this:

Is your mp4 player running Microsoft Windows? No? Then it doesn't need an update. Pure and simple.

OK, I'd say it's running on the "Actions" chipset from the info you have given here. If you're having problems with AMV you will have to find the right program for your player. What is the size of your screen? 1.5, 1.8, 2.0, 2.4 inch?

When I run the MP3 Player Upgrade tool like specified on here..
http://www.mympxplayer.org/how-to-up...ayer-vt46.html

It doesnt show my current information on the left side.
Hoping theres an update for it but I want to make sure I find the right one.

It's very slow to navigate the folders, Im hoping an update will fix that.

Thanks for the response Odyssey

I believe the Ebay auction said it's the 1.5" screen. It's a 4Gb model.

This is the link to the Ebay auction.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...5899&rd=1&rd=1

My concerns are just the time it takes to populate the list of folders that contain my music. It can take up to 10 seconds. And the video when full screen is extremely choppy...

This may very well be the norm. This is exactly why I bought 2 different models.. The Optimus X is so far a much better deal.

Edit:

Yep... The 'slowness' is common for an Actions chipset player. The Optimus X.. can't go wrong, 'Rockchip' chipset... two thumbs up.

OK, with a 1.5 inch upright screen you probably won't fill the screen entirely. The only program i can recommend to utilize it correctly would be AMV Converter v3.57. You can download that from the download section of this forum. However if you want to completely fill the screen, i'd use the modified version of AMV Converter 4.0 here > http://www.mympxplayer.org/amv-conve...mod-df541.html

Before you process your video, right click on the file then choose 'Settings'. Then change it's video size to 128x128.

Then go ahead and process the video to AMV.

That should do the trick...

Well I tried what you recommended.. It created the video, it seems to play fine on the computer but on the device it's choppy.. Lots of audio "pops" and "cracks"..
Any other tips / tricks?
