Can't access "local folder" in music

I recently bought a new MP4 player and was initially very happy with my purchase. But for some crazy reason it wont let me access the "local folder" to change folders/songs. When I hit "menu botton" with the music stopped, it gives me all the usual options (local folder, repeat, delete, etc) but it wont allow me to actually get into any of the options. As soon as I hit the main button it takes me back to the song I'malready in.

The problem is only in MUSIC. In MOVIES it will allow me to access "local folder"

Is it a glitch in the firmware? PLEASE HELP. Thanks!

(It is your typical cheapy 1.8 color screen with small joytick in the middle and the button on joystick is the main meny button)

thx for the reply

Yeah - I tried other buttons as well...the play button also takes you back to the song last played

Though its the menu button thats supossed to let you access others songs. Thats what instructions say and thats what happens in the MOVIE area

The same button works in all other situations. (It's the main button!) Only here it doesnt work. Could that be a glitch in firmware?

By golly, you're right! When a SD card is in, the menu works fine. Not only does it access the files on the card, but it even accesses the files on the drive. That's crazy. Happy to see that, but still annoying cause I dont want to have to bring a SD wherever I go (it sticks out a bit on ny device)

So where is the problem? Firmware glitch? What can be done

Thanks a lot!

This happened to me once with my new player but I just kept hitting forward to the next song till it go all the way to the last song in the current folder; then once it had gone to a file outside the folder where I was stucked I again tried to access the root folder and it then worked fine; it hasnt done it anymore since then.

Not a 'glitch' really, more like an omission somewhere in it's initial programming. There wouldn't be much you could do about that. I most certainly would not advise attemping any update/modification/flashing of the player firmware.

Well, the moving until the end of the tracks didn't solve the problem. I guess I'm stuck with the SD card solution. And thx for telling me not to fool with the firmware. I would have absolutley no idea what I'm doing
