Default My ME2 Player has 2 Removable Disks! Is this normal?

Hi, I just received my new ME2 player (my third one) and when I went to start downloading music, I noticed that it has two removable disks (F & G). I went into properties for both disks and they are each FAT with 1.95 GB. Is this normal? Does this mean I have 2 - 2GB chips or that the unit has been partitioned?

Please help!

miffedmom , go to the System menu >> Online Mode, then select Normal Only. Now reconnect your player to the computer, you should be able to see only 1 drive.

Either way, i'll suggest formatting using Disk Tools as you shouldn't see 2 drives that are so large anyway.

It`s like an MP3 Player which plays Music CDs only.

miffedmom, It is not unusual for 4GB players to have 2x2GB chips but usually they display as a single drive. You could try going into settings and checking that on-line mode is set to Normal only, If the drive is partitioned only one drive should appear. Check to make sure you can still access all memory.
It could also just be the way the player is, sometimes design and firmware coding is pretty sloppy.

Hi, I switched player over to Normal and player now only shows one removable disk. This player is supposed to be only 2GB.

I have two other ME2 players that are 2GB that I had purchased two weeks prior to this one from the same seller. They are both on Multi-drive and they only show one removable disk. The memory info showing for both players is exactly the same (1946M) and they have the exact same firmware version. The new player has the same firmware version as the first two but the memory info is slightly different at 1997M.

Do you recommend formatting new players before use?

Could this one be hacked??

Hacked players quite oftern show as 2 disks but generally one is only a couple of MB in size and the other the quoted size. You can format it using the Memory Hack removal process for peace of mind or just run the Disk Tool and compare the amount of memory displayed in both the Format and the Partition Encrypt tabs. If they are both the same then the player is unlikely to be hacked. If they display very different amounts like 2GB in the Format tab and 1GB in the Partition Encrypt tab then it is most likely a 1GB player hacked to read 2GB.

Hi, I ran the Disk Tool and compared the amount of memory displayed in both the Format and the Partition Encrypt tabs. They are not the same. Format tab reads Capacity 1998.25 MB and the Partition Encrypt tab reads Disk total capacity 962 MB, Setting encryted disk capacity 1 MB.

My other two players read: Format tab Capacity 1946.84 MB, Partition Encrypt tab Disk Total capacity 1946 MB, Setting encrypted disk capacity 0 MB.

How do I download your instructions on Memory Hack removal?

Then it sounds like a hacked 1GB chip but to confirm go to the Partition Encrypt tab and move the slider all the way right and then all the way back to the left and press start. This will rebuild the partition and remove the hack if it exists. Be sure to copy any files you want to keep from the player otherwise they will be deleted.

Hi, I completed hack removal and the actual memory capacity is 961 MB, which is only 1 GB right??

I guess I will be going after another seller!!

That would be a 1GB chip. You have a hacked player.
