My Wall charger

i was playing around with my mpx player (nano clone) the other day to realize something wierd was happening...

I would turn off my player (stand by, by holding down centre button down, and leaving the switch at the top 'on') and connect my usb (mini 5pin) to the bottom of player , then to the wall charger (without it being connected to a electrical lead) and the player would turn on saying CONNECTED and the light on the chargers LED light, lit up.... and the battery icon on the player appeared as charging (the bars [||} would be moving )

i then removed the cable from the charger and the screen would turn off.

Is it possible that when u connect ur charger to an electrical lead it charges the actual charger (like it has an in built battery in it or something??) so that u can charge it later, portably, without having to connect it to a lead??

d12nv , what you are experiencing is quite simple. There are 4 wires in your cable, +5V, GND, Data+ & Data-.

For the player to show the charging screen, you'll need to ground both the Data+ and Data-.

Fastest way for them was to manufacture the adaptor so that the Data+ & Data- are connected to GND within the adaptor itself.

When you connect the player, and the On/Off switch is in the On position, the battery is connected and supplying power to the player, irregardless whether it is on or off. So when you connect the other end to the adaptor, it just forms a complete circuit to ground the Data+ & Data- to the battery's -ve terminal. Thus showing the charging screen.

You can't plug the adaptor into the socket to store charge. The capacitor inside is not big enough to store such a large charge.

oooo wooow!! so its not actually the player, thinking:
"theres a cable connected in my USB (5 pin mini), lets hit the CONNECTED SCREEN"?

I had that same issue with my 1G Ipod Nano Clone Rockchip...

I have a question though, how would you know if it's already FULL charged? The wall charger has to light, a Red and a Green one. Intially, they are both lit up, after sometime, the green light goes off. Does that mean that it's FULL charged already? What if I charge using my PC (USB), how would I know it's FULL? Thanks!

pit bull , usually you'll just need to look at the player's charging screen. Most players would animate the battery icon when charging, when it is fully charged, the battery icon would stop animating.
The wall chargers are not accurate, and usually the lights don't really make any sense. Besides, it is advisable to charge via your computer's USB instead. The wall chargers are not of good quality and sometimes might damage your player.

Actually, it's the player's charging screen that is not accurate. When the green light on your charger goes off, you can be sure your player is fully charged. My Nano clone for example would show that it's charged, but it takes more than an hour for the green light on the charger to go out as well.

If i take the player in that "supposed-to-be-charged" state, when the animation stops, it barely lasts 20 minutes of music. If i keep it plugged in until the charger's green light goes out, it gives a good 3 hours of playback. ;)
