Format Error : 2gb Now 1gb , Gahh!
I received a format error a few times on me mp4 player , so i move all the stuff off it , format it , and put it back on.
Just recently , it didnt cross my mind to select FAT insteada FAT32 , and now the space is 982mb or somethin , and now 1926mb etc.. Is there a way to get my fkn space back, im sick of seeing DISK FULL , RETRY CANCEL.. Thanks. (9.0.51 sucks camel diack! :) ) |
Youve only got a 1GB chip , that means you can only get 1GB of stuff onto your player...
|
Nah i have a 2gb drive , ive formatted it , and now its 1gb .. is there a way i can get it back??
|
Its most likley thast its only 1GB , are you sure its 2GB , have you read about hacked memory??? The sellers are scamming people to thinking its 2GB but it may only be one untill you format it .
|
lol , it IS 2gb , thats a fact.. its only now that i formatted it that its 1gb ..
its to do with that " CAPACITY SIZE " in the format section of the disk drive. ... It IS 2gb , and i want it back!!!!! glah!! |
Ok , I dont understand your problem??? , Your pc is telling you its 2GB , when you right click on it , but on the actaul palyer it only says its 1GB, or what???
|
Nooo no , my PC is telling me it's 1gb ..
This only happened AFTER i formatted it, previous to me formatting it an hour ago , it was 2GB and always has been.. The player is 2gb , the pc says its 1gb (because i formatted it which differed its capacity somehow) |
Ok , how exactly are you so certian its 2gb??? Did you open up the player???
|
ok here it is STEP BY STEP.
I buy the player ( 2 months ago ) I loaded the Mp4 till it was FULL ( at 2GB ) Received a format error ( 1 hour ago ) I format the Mp4 ( 1 hour ago ) The Mp4 has gone from 2GB to 1GB ( 1 hour ago ) I crack the shits and want my 2GB back. Therefore since ive had my mp4 for 2 MONTHS i think i KNOW that its 2GB |
Your player isnt 2GB , open it up and check the chip , post the chip number online (Here) and ill tell you what size it is , you want the chip that says samsung or hynix on it.
|
You have got all the signs of a hacked player and even if you loaded it up with 2GB of stuff , It still means that it could be hacked, I bet when you open it its rearly a 1GB chip. Open up your player and tell me the serial no , If you are so certian its 2GB.
|
Ive formatted this Mp4 player before , and it remained at 2gb ,

Its not 2gb , its only 1gb , You never had 2gb , It was ahckled to show 2GB , but the actual chip inside is 1GB , look your not getting that 1gb back beause it was never there in the first place , Check the gusy feedback
|
How could I have loaded 2gb worth of music on there in the first place then? ..
|
Your player has a 1Gb chip. They coded (hacked) it to show as it is 2Gb. When you load more files than 1Gb on it, they don't fully load into it, only parts, thats why you get errors all the times.
Check the chip, and don't try to be smart. Sry, but you did annoy me a bit. |
Yeh yeh , my bad , i stuidied up for like 2 hours on this , but Lite didnt explain much.. Thanks for ure point Dima ..
NOW , it makes sense.. fuckn asians.. |
Lucky i got this for free , hope i get refunded at least half what i "paid" for it , thankyou survey money.. but still , this was not what i wanted to wake up to this mornin .. >:( ..
thanks again Dima , i just wanted a straight forward answer.. |
Np. :) we all get things wrong sometimes. Well, from 2 to 1Gb isn't that a big change :P
Luckily I have never had a hacked player. :) I bought a 1Gb mp4 from ebay user e-danton (stopped to sell tho) a week ago it is very nice with a speaker and a good battery (6 to 8h) and the mem is not hacked. :) |
The explination should be sticky'd , there are a fuckload of people askin this.. and yeah im still happy with 1gb .. meh i was Dimmu Borgir'n it up at school today.. hah
|
Sorry , I didnt exsplain it well enough.
Youve got to be happy with 1GB , because you never even had 2GB even if it looked like 2GB , it never had 2GB of content/ |
dude, they are trying to help. It sounds like you have a hacked one. Thats all.
|
he had a 1.5gb movie on it tho.. unless the movie wasnt complete.. did you watch the whole movie on the player?
|
I do wish you'd see what everyone is trying to say.
Yes, until you formatted it, both the player and your computer said it was a 2GB player. Yes, you appeared to be able to load it with 2GB of data. Yes, when you tried to play something from that "second" GB of memory, it couldn't play it and gave you a "format error". So far am I getting it? THEN... You formatted the player. And as it was corrupted, the format utility removed the "encryption" from the memory. This revealed the true size of the chip. Which, unfortunately, was one GB. This is further backed up by the fact that the seller you purchased from seems to have many, many negative feedbacks for just this issue. Now you want me to "go jump" as well, I bet. I guess that's a bad thing to do in Australia? ;-) So therefore, what happened was you did, in fact seem to load 2GB on the drive. But as there was only a 1GB chip in the thing, what it did was load the file information (name and size) into the directory but nothing else. Up until the point where you got the error, you'd been playing stuff from the first GB of memory. Now, I understand not wanting to open the case just now, but if what you are saying is correct, then following every step in the "Removing Memory Hack" HowTo exactly and without skipping will restore the full drive size. It's possible that the slider got knocked in the second formatting step, I guess. However, if following that guide fails to return the other GB, then, I'm sorry, but it was never there. It just looked like it was there. That's the scam. |
Did you try the memory hack removal procedure? If it's truly 2GB, then it should bring it back to that. ;)
|
Ok I have a 1 gig and now after a format its showing 430mg how do I get it back to 1 gig?
|
Re: Format Error : 2gb Now 1gb , Gahh!
TimBo,
Unfortunately the bad news is that it seems you only have a 512MB memory chip in your player instead of a 1GB chip as advertised. If you follow the "Removing Memory Hack" guide then what that does is removes any hacks the player has. In your case, unfortunately it seems like your player has been hacked to show 1GB when it never had 1GB and in fact only had a 512MB memory chip instead. Did you buy it from a NZ seller? Generally not a lot of sellers hack 1GB players but more 4GB and 8GB players. |
Re: Format Error !
Hi,
I'm facing a similar problem. But it is with songs (mp3). It was working well initially, but after a few transfers, the same songs when played now display "Format Error". I've tried formatting, but the problem persists. My observation is this: 1) It seems like a random possibility. When I transfer song files singly, that is one at a time, most songs transfer well. when I do bulk transfer, most files give format error. 2) In case of transfers, one song at a time, if I get the error, then I try deleting and copying it again. So when copying a file repeatedly, it sometimes works but sometimes it doesn't. Had there been truly a problem related to format, then it should have reproduced itself each time. But it doesn't. Probably it is something to do with the FAT format of the players. I suspect this because, when I format my player using the FORMAT command, cmd says that the cluster size (64k) is not appropraite for FAT, would you like to keep it? Also, it says, for drives >4 GB, FAT is not appropriate; by the way, I have a 4 GB player. Here is the config: LG MP3 Player LS101V12 CM70033 ACT_V9.0.50 Can any one help me troubleshoot this? |
