Default Extract firmware of player using the S1fwx tool

Ok people,

I have tried to extract the firmware from one of my working Chipod nano players using the S1fwx tool, with the intention of putting the extracted firmware into the player that is faulty, which powers up and is read by the PC, but the screen is more or less just white and stays on all the time it is connected to my PC.

However! I have followed the step by step intructions on how to extract the firmware from my working player from Binh's detailed instructions from the general knowledge section using the S1fwx tool, but when I get to section 10 C:\WINNT\system32cmd.exe I don't see anywhere the detailed list, for example as follows below

: USBDISK.AP : : 14.5kb : : 60C5C95E :
: MUSIC.AP : : 75kb : : A22DC669 :

And so on! does anyone know why this list does not appear after extracting the firmware in section 10?

I have just looked at the S1MP3.de site and version 9s are not supported for extraction yet.

I think my best next option is to clone my good player with the clone tool, as both players are the same.

Perhaps I have answered this section myself?

But any suggestions on my train of thought would be helpful if I am wrong?

Yep. version 9 players use firmware versions 9.0.48 and higher. So even though s1fwx extracts a file it's usually missing important bits of the firmware.

Definitely give s1clone a try.

Hi, I am trying to extract my mp4 player's firmware using s1wfx tool, but the tool is unable to pick up the player, although it gets recognised by the PC as a 'F' drive.

Specs of player are as follows:

Chip: ASIA ONLY -- ASBR3304 -- L100E-CA6 -- A03931 -- 0607

Memory: SAMSUNG K9K8G08U0A (1GB)
Display: 1.8" -- w/FM Radio

On board it says: RUIZHI15v1.1-KEY 2006/06/06

If extraction is noy possible, does anyone know about a good firmware for this player?

Thank you,

If your firmware is 9.0.50 you will not be able to extract it fully.

If your player is working ok don't mess with it or you will kill it

in the about section of player, version number is 2.611.600.

reason for firmware extraction is to change startup logo.

wkhattak, From the look of your firmware number your player is not an Action chipset type so the firmware extraction tool will not work with your player as it only works with Action Players.

Can you give some more details about your player (video format, camera feature) and maybe a picture.
