Default Support Question... Corrupt Files?

When I transfer files to my player using the drag and copy method to the usb drive, some (not all ) the files are then corrupt and will not play.

The files on my PC are fine, they play fine... it's only the copied filed. If I delete and copy the file over again, sometimes it then works.

my fw shows B835g8bv3.0 and core 9.0.50 if that helps or means anything.

I tried re-formatting and tried repair bad sectors, it still has some files that when copied to the mp3 player are corrupt.

what might this be? Firmware? Bad Flash memory? Can I fix this or Am I screwd?

Thanks
Dan

Hi Dan. It sounds like to me that the flash memory in your player may be corrupted or there might be dead sectors on the chip.

If reformating hasn't solved it, i'd contact the seller and tell them to see what they can do. Where did you get it?

Thanks for the reply... I actually was worried someone was going to tell me that it might be a "return item".

I bought two of these, one for my daughter and one for me. Hers is fine, great... it's mine giving me problems.

I got it on ebay from audio-logix... overall seemed like a good deal.. Like I said, my daughters is fine and it's going on 2 months now. But I hate to have to consider the "return item" issue... we'll see.

Thanks again for the insight - anybody else have an idea?

Dan

edan_id , very likely as ashley_rb mentioned, it should most likely be a bad memory chip problem. Try getting an exchange or refund from your seller

It`s like an MP3 Player which plays Music CDs only.

Okay... I want to say, I appreciate this board... in another thread I figured out what the problem with my player is.... I'm yet another victim of the hacked memory.

the player I bought from audio-logix on ebay is NOT 4gb but 1gb after it's properly formatted.

He's actually been kicked off ebay at moment, and I've got a complaint filed through paypal but we'll see where it goes... as it stands I've reformatted and it showed 1gb.

Now another issues arises, the thing won't power on. It will work when connected via usb but off usb it wont' power on. I assume most likely a battery issue, but is there any chance because of the re-format I've messed up the firmware or something?

Thanks
Dan

The format should not have harmed the firmware as it resides in a locked partition. If it runs ok drawing power from the USB but does not hold a charge I would say the battery is more than likely faulty. If getting a replacement or refund from the seller is not an option then you could try replacing the battery, I think uxcell.com sells replacement batteries for some of it's players, I have a couple of players that I have used ipod replacement batteries in with good results but it depends on how much room is available for the replacement battery.
