Silent chipod!!!

Hello, I have a chipod, like the ipod black. I cant hear music... I can play it but the sound seems to been gone... very far... I dissambled it and it doesn't seem to have any trouble with the headphone socket. What could it be? Please let me know how to solve the problem. Thanks.

Did you try to reformat the player? The instructions are here:

I had a player awhile ago that went totally silent. I reformatted it and the sound came back.

Hmm, about your player's problem, i'm allmost 100% sure that it's caused by a broken socket. The sockets used in these players are a bit more complicated than the simple ones. They have a metal pin inside that tells the player that you inserted the earphone socket. Maybe it has been badly constructed or it is bent and it touches more pins that it should under normal circumstances. Another problem could be a broken amplyfier chip (the small ones) or even a broken firmware (in this case it's much more difficult to test). Also, are you 100% positive that your headphones work? If yes, what happens if you insert the socket just a bit (not fully)?

Yes, IŽd tried with others headphones and to put them just a bit :(
Should I try with the firmware :?:
Thanks for your reply.

Ecege , it could be a sign of failing hardware rather than firmware. By flashing in another firmware, you are more likely to brick your player instead as these firmwares are all coded specifically for each batch of players.
