Default How do i upgrade my firmware?

I just bought a mp4 player . The directions are in chinese or japanese... so i cant read crap. Now ive read a post about upgrading firmware.. but i am missing .fm or .bin files Where are they on the mini disc?.. cant seem to find em. I already did the true memory format thingy... i lost about 25 mbs.. but not a big deal.. i wil be able to load all my mp3s now instead of 160 only.

So on the mini disk.. do i run the setups in each folder? or what im confused..
or uncompress all?
I also have utilities.. 3.68 on my comp already.. but i want to get the disks ones.. in case i kil my player with the wrong version firmware upgrade.

My AMV's volume is stuck at 0, and i heard to fix it i have to upgrade my firmware..

my player is a small skinny one thats says
MP4
digital player

Default Re: How do i upgrade my firmware?

I would just like to point out Im stuck on step 5 of the upgrading firmware guide in the knowledge base incase ppl just think im asking age old questions without reading thourougly

5. Choose your new firmware file (.bin or .fw) and click on the [Open] button.

I have the thingy open but nowhere can i find .bin or.fw files... not in my 3.68 utilities folder, not on the mini disc that came with the player.

Is the upgrade firmware option only for downloaded ones? i figured the disk came with my firmware on it..

So should i just download all the 3.5.37 firmwares and try each of those..

Like i said my Volume on the amv player is stuck at 0 and I read the only way to fix it is to upgrade firmware.

I'll just reload my previous firmware if i "brick it" as you all so eloquently put it

XxzMayhemzxX , do not try to flash any other firmwares besides your own extracted firmware.

Since your firmware is v3.5.37, i'll suggest that you extract the current firmware and repair it, guide here http://www.mympxplayer.org/how-to-ex...tool-vt66.html

Next, with the repaired firmware, re-flash it back into your player, guide here http://www.mympxplayer.org/how-to-up...ayer-vt46.html

It`s like an MP3 Player which plays Music CDs only.

i have already extracted and reinstalled the original firmware.. if thats what you mean
R u saying i can also repair my old firmware.. so the 0 volume thing on the amv player is fixed also? then install it again?

I've also used another firmware and ruined the player, then took it apart and repaired it and installed the original firmware.. that has the 0 volume problem back to square one.. I owe some dude a beer cant remember his name.. in the knowledge base for that one

this repair firmware option sounds intriging tho.. wil it repair the 0 volume thingy in amv?

On a side note.. do i decompress all that crap on the mini disk? or is it all useless? well besides the 3.68 installer.. disktool, and firmware upgrader. ive dled the amv tools for converting and creating amvs a long time ago

XxzMayhemzxX , the repair.bat file does not actually 'repair' your firmware, but rather it checks and format the extracted firmware to the proper format for re-flashing.

When you adjust the volume, does the volume increase/decrease as normal besides the 0 display?

oh, i already did the format thingy to show my tru memory.. 960 or 966 mbs, cant remember, instead of 2 gigs. I was wondering why it only let me put in like 180 songs.

Well after i first bought the player, i watched the little demo video that came on the player and mesed around with the volume. and it went down but not up.. the sound and the numbers on the volume display. Now i have 0 sound on my amv player. 0 on the display and no sound coming out. I cant even get the volume display to come up, thats stuck at 0.

The volume display and the sound both work for all the other modes.. music, record, fm radio
