Hacke Nano Clone- Anyone know how to install more memory

So I bought these nano clones while I was in China. I did the hacked memory removal thing.

Pre Format: 2 drives, one with 7.something GB and another with a few kilobytes

On the first->3rd attempted formats, the two drives still existed, but one was 17MB, and the other was 80MB.

I formatted again, and now the total disk space is 103 MB. >_< It's not 256-ish at all....Is this the real size, or did I royally screw up?

///Solved?? ((I Guess it is a 124 MB chip...))

Anyway: New Question!

Is there a way to physically increase memory in these things? i.e. If I bought a chip from samsung or whatnot, with a higher capacity and wanted to sodder it on to replace the crappy one?

What about mini SD cards? Is there a rig like the DIY Daisy for s1players?

Thanks
Smoke

Yeah, it's most probably a 128MB chip.

To the other questions, yes, if you get a bigger memory chip, back up the firmware, remove the existing one, solder the new one in and reflash the firmware on the new chip it will be fully recognized by the player. As far as i remember, Action chipsets can address flash chips up to 4GB.

But if you got 9.x..xxx firmware you're out of luck, as that can't be dumped/backed up yet.

Is there a site with more details on installing more memory? I don't wanna fry the thing on my first try. Also, any suggestions on where to memory chips?

Thanks

As far as i know, no. But unless you solder the chip the wrong way in, you won't fry it. And there are markings on both the chip and player board for where the 1st pin on the chip goes, so it's impossible to solder it wrong if you look carefully. ;)

The trickier stuff is restoring the firmware on the newer chip, you have to look at the "Dead Recovery Guide" in this forum.

Thanks a lot! I think I will try to find a good chip first. >_< I haven't found any places that sell them directly.

smoke , the S1mp3 wiki site has a tutorial on how to replace your player's memory chip with a new one.
Guide here http://wiki.s1mp3.org/index.php/How_..._a_memory_chip

Hope this helps.

Sweet! I got the firmware and a few guides for soldering, but, no chips.

Does anyone know where I can get the memory? Preferably from a vendor or someone who is highly rated in the community this year.

Thanks
