Howto: Properly recharging your MPx player
I've seen quite a number of people here who have trouble recharging their players, so i decided to post a little guide for you. ;)
Using the AC adapter is better than recharging via USB, as long as it doesn't blow up. The battery animation can't always be trusted, as mine stops and shows fully charged about an hour and a half before the charging actually completes. The true charge status is shown by the green light on the AC charger. When it fades away completely, your player is fully charged. :D For those who still like to use USB charging, generally these things take 2-3 hours to charge and should provide 3-5 hours of music playback or 2.5-3 hours of movie watching. Always charge your player when it is on. When you flip the switch on your player to off, you physically disconnect the battery from the player circuitry, meaning when you connect the player to the AC charger or USB port, it is fully running on external power and the battery does not charge at all. If you turn the player off, connect it to the AC charger and mess around with it, you'll notice the green light of the charger is on when the backlight is on and dims heavily when the backlight turns off. If you turn up the volume to the max and play a song, it weakly flickers to the rhythm of the song. That clearly shows the battery is disconnected and the player is only running on external power. And one last word: The backlight on this thing eats the most power. Use the "DarkMode" option in the Setup menu to make it turn off after a certain time. You will experience an increase in battery life after you set that. Of course, it applies only to music as when watching movies the screen remains lit the whole time. :P Hope this helped. |
And one more thing. Some PCI USB controllers (particularly VIA ones, i have one and it does this) do not supply the needed voltage for charging your player, and actually discharge it if you leave it plugged.
Onboard USB ports are fine for charging. ;) |
Thanks for this!
