disk error, formatted, now from 8GB to 1GB
i need help , i buy two mp3/mp4ipod (not real one i dont know the good name to said thats why i write ipod) one its ok the other one when i open it he said disk error , i format it and before he said 8gig now he said 1 gig , i read some place on your forum and he said its because its a fake one, now i know , my question what i have to do or use a programe to put it back 8gig when i go in windows explorer , why your porbably said , its because my other children because i give to her for a birthy gift. she said now why my its just 1gigs and my sister said 8 gigs. haven if i explan to her shee dont whant understand why , thats why i like to know what i have to do , i write to the seller and for now he said he dont understand what i said i think he just close is eyes and not read what i said , i buy this on ebay thats make mee mad and sad because people play whit the hearth off my kid and for now i dont have anough money to buy other one.
and whats the difference between the data and the mp3 because in my head mp3 its considerate for data.and the seller said (The "Capacity" part is clearly stated in the item description, the 8GB is for acting as a 8GB USB flash drive for storing data files only, and the actual playable and recordable capacity is 1GB. It can hold 8GB of songs as data, but among them, only the songs locate in the first giga byte of the memory section are playable, thanks. ) now i said thanks to evrebody like to try to help mee to make my kid mor happy. |
now the same mp3/mp4 when i open it i just have the Hourglass ( i wish its the good word because i use traductor in french i said (sablier)) and nothing appen after.

Hi, you need to format the other one too. It's hacked too. If you do not remove the memory hack, your daughter will have format errors when she tries to play it.
Sellers state the "1GB is recordable capacity" to have an excuse as to why it doesn't hold the full 8GB. There isn no such thing as a player that will hold 8GB of data with only 1GB playable. File a dispute with Paypal immediately stating the item is not as described. If the seller offers a full refund if you ship the item back at YOUR cost, don't do it. You won't see your money or another player again. I would tell him that you know the players are hacked and that you know he is intentionally selling hacked players. You might be able to get a partial refund. Don't let him tell you it's your fault for formatting. The only reason sellers do not want you to format is because you will find out the truth. Unfortunately, eBay continues to allow these sellers to steal from unsuspecting buyers. Be very careful when buying from eBay. Do not buy from sellers who have just started selling mp4 players. Before buying from any seller go to www.toolhaus.org and type in the seller's eBay ID. It will give you all the negative feedback that the seller has received. Sorry that you bought hacked players. Just about everyone on this board has gone through the same thing you have. Please sign the Petition to help stop the scammers. It's on the main page. |

labroi2007, Sounds like you bought your players from "hailitele" one of the biggest scammers on ebay. Your player only have 1GB of storage but the memory modules has been modified so that they reads as 8GB. Any songs over the true 1GB of the memory chip become corrupt because they are written to memory that does not really exist. It is not possible to restore the chip to it's fake 8GB but it would not be a good idea anyway.
One of the problems with hacked players is that due to the corrupted files eventually the player will crash and the firmware will become corrupted. When this happens the player will no longer function or be detected when connected to your PC. Once this happens there is very little that can be done to fix the player. Whilst I know how dissapointed your kids must be the best thing you can do is remove the memory hack from the other 8GB player as well. At least you will then have two 1GB players that should work without any problems rather than one 1GB player that works fine and one 8GB player that has crashed and no longer operates. The information given by the supplier about 8GB being compressed memory for data storage and only 1GB recordable capacity (Which will be displayed in small print somewhere on the auction page) is all bullshit to cover his arse should you file a complaint with ebay or paypal. There is no such thing as compressed memory the guy is a crook. |
for bobo773 no i not upgrade the frimware because i not even know how to do it and when i plug the mp3/mp4 the computer now dont reconize he ask mee for a driver . do you have a solution.
for tada1 . i sign the petition already , and i start to format the other one. now the one he just open and stay on the Hourglass something i could do it or not thanks all for your help. |
labroi2007, There is only one chance of saving the player with the hourglass but it does not work with all players.
You need to download a program called s1clone. You can get it here: http://www.stud.uni-karlsruhe.de/~uw...1clone_v11.zip With s1clone you may be able to make a copy of the working players memory and then load it to the player with the hourglass. |
Ok i try your program and i tell you if its ok thanks for your help again.
Another question if i plug the one its bad and the computer dont see what i doing to reclone it. |
labroi2007, Generally you have to put the dead player into ADFU mode but you mention that the player is asking for a driver when you connect it so it may already be in ADFU mode so s1clone may detect it even if it is not shown in Explorer. If not let me know and I will help you with some instructions for setting the player to ADFU mode.
