crazybaz - There are three different things that could be wrong with your player:
1. Your headphones are faulty.
2. Your mp3 files are corrupt on the player
3. Your headphone socket itself is improperly soldered.
First try using different headphones if possible. It looks like you bought one of the older models that have a 2.5mm headphone jack, so try hunting around your local hardware store or online for a 2.5 to 2.5mm adapter. If, with different headphones, the sound still doesn't work properly, you might want to check out the jack itself. It might not be soldered properly and thus you'd have to take it up with the seller.
Also, sorry to break it to you, but I recall the seller you bought the player from being complained about. Use mp3 player utilities to find the exact capacity, because chances are you player is hacked.
