Uploading another firmware to my RockChip player.
... i want to succesfully change my player's firmware for another that has the GAME option (menu with 9 options).
And i want advice or info from previous experiences like this. I've researched many firmwares files for the same screen res (220x176), all with 9 options menu. (tks for all those files!) But I remember by now, only one successful attempt of uploading a 'foreign' firmware, that's of gs1960 that fixed his player. (Also i want to know if there is a succesful attempt to flash the included firmware ('powerpack') in this player model & brand, or if this firmware file that i've uploaded helped with another different player) Thank you! ps: My PLAYER: "Powerpack" RockChip based. - Screen: 2" 220x176 - Firmware loaded: (same Menu screens as firmware file in CD with only 8 options, without GAME) Ver: 00.01.0006 Date: 2007-02-01 - Model MF-MS68 - Mem: 2gb + mini SD slot More info & firmware in this post http://www.mympxplayer.org/pafiledb/.../ms68-good.jpg |
Re: Uploading another firmware to my RockChip player.
It's risky, I tried with another firmware from a player that looked like mine had the same button layout and the same screen layout, the only difference was it would not load into my version of ConsumerUpdate, so I used another version of ConsumerUpdate to make it load in, this was wrong and I nearly bricked my player, I lost the screen and had to work out how to get to the update menu option "blind". I did find a firmware that worked in the end, with the same layout AND worked and my version of ConsumerUpdate, so its ok now.
The game by the way is not very good it's only tetris, it's seems like the firmware version you have is a better version, it's file size is bigger even without the game. I think you would be better to stick with the version you have for now, and wait for some better tools. If you really feel you must update your player be prepared that it might be lost forever and only flash a firmware thats from a player that looks like yours, has the same screen and button layout and only use YOUR OWN version of ConsumerUpdate, but it is risky just for a simple game. By the way I did see if your firmware would load into my consumerUpdate and it did not, and my player looks just like yours, so it isn't easy, what we really need are tools to do a firmware backup to keep safe. |

yes! you guys are my saving grace. I've had the same problem with my rockchip, lost all the menu screens even though it turns on fine... and it's been sitting in the bottom of my drawer for the past two months. I'd reallyappreciate it if you sent a copy of your firmware knob and told me exactly how you got it to work... thanks

Re: Uploading another firmware to my RockChip player.
If your player already doesn't work then you have nothing to loose by trying
this. If your screen display is gone but the player still plays music then you can get it back again, the menu is still there you just cant see it. You will need to get it into upgrade mode, so you switch the player on, dont forget to wait long enough for it to boot up, press the down button 8 times (you are on the settings option now) press the button to select once (gets you into the menu) press the down key 4 times (gets you to the system option) press the select button once again( you are now in the system menu). press the down key once (you are now over the upgrade option) then just press the select button one more, then you can connect the USB cable and use ConsumerUpdate. I only use the ConsumerUpdate that came on the Cd with my player as I had a problem when I tried to use another one. The firmware I used was the Hebrew version which has already been uploaded in "All Rockchip firmware" thread on this forum the one posted by "puwkin". It does default to Hebrew language but there are European languages in it you just have to navigate the Hebrew menu to get to your language , I just did it by trail and error. The walker firmware worked too but the screen display was far too bright and unusable for my player. These were the only 2 firmwares that my version of ConsumerUpdate would accept, but as I have said before your version may be different to mine but I suppose it's Ok to experiment if your player not working anyway. Oh i nearly forgot ,"princessanne1026" I noticed in an earlier post you mentioned that you had a cd with some Rockchip firmwares on, any chance of uploading them just in case they can help someone?. |
