FM doesn't work, files corrupted with unknown characters
 

Hey, all.

I recently bought a 4GB MP4 player from the eBay seller: johnnymagasin for a reasonably cheap price of £16. Since receiving the item, I have come across several problems. First of all, the headphones supplied did not work at all. I reported this fault to the seller, and was sent a replacement.

Secondly, the FM Radio failed to work. The seller asked me to format the MP4 player in order to overcome this problem, so I did with no luck. The seller then offered to send me a free gift to make up for this fault, which I have still not received. On top of that, ANY files that are put onto the MP4 player become corrupt and can not be accessed, not even when I put them back onto my PC. Files are moved from folder to folder, and some of the files I put on aren't even there.

Also, file names are automatically changed to unknown characters. The storage information is also displayed incorrectly. Like, when 600MB worth of files are on the MP4 player, 2GB of space is being used up. The seller told me to try using less storage. I asked if he could replace my MP4 Player and he said he doesn't replace MP4 Players
Is there anyone that can help me overcome any of these problems..

Once formatted with MP3 Utilities Disk Tool, and the memory capacity drops, file a paypal claim immediately.

I'd say keep it if it's really 2 gigs (1.89GB operable capacity). It's pretty good for that price. ;)

Yeh, i suppose it s good, but why did he lie to me. The radio doesnt work either, i formatted it plenty of time but still no luck.Should i tell the seller about the memory hack i found on it?
Also is there any mods for fw 9.0.50?

Obzdadon , he lied because of money, to cheat your money by selling you a 2GB player at the price of 4GB.

What error message do you get when you try to use the FM radio?

At the moment, it is not possible to safely theme a v9.0.50 firmware. The firmware extractor S1fwx only supports upto v9.0.43 currently. Without your extracted firmware, it is extremely risky to download someone else's themed firmware, even if it is the same exact version to flash into your player. Most cases you would end up with a bricked player.

It shows the message 'Hard Error'
I read on another post that the board could be blown, it hasnt been working since i first bought it.

The FM might not work because of either a blown board of the FM chip isn't installed in your player. For the FM function to work, it needs a FM chip on the chip board. So he would have lied to you about that as well.

If you say your player has never worked since getting it, I would strongly suggest you get a replacement (if it doesn't cost you too much). It should be covered under warranty or you should get a refund for it at least.

What are you waiting for guy file a paypal claim. He cheated you out of money for a product that is known to be usually hacked with less GB size than advertised. File a claim with pay pal and leave him bad feedback on ebay.

can anyone tell me how to claim money from a seller?
this seller is getting on my nerves, he says there is something wrong with his paypal

Don't send the player back at YOUR cost! The seller will keep the player and the money and you will never hear from him again. If I were you, I would tell him that. Also, tell him that you are familiar with memory hacks and know that he intentionally scammed you and you're not giving him more money. Let him know that you KNOW what he's doing. Worst case scenario is that Paypal will close the claim and you are out the money. Which is better than if you sent it back and were out twice as much money.

I have told him that i know about the memory hack and that he has scammed me. I said to him that i will be willing to give him £4.00 more if he gives me another 2GB MP4 player to make up 4GB. His answer was no. He also said that his paypal account doesnt work for some reason, i think he is lying. Then i sent him a message saying that i would leave him bad feedback and that he scammed me and i would put a claim to paypal. I am new to paypal, i was just wondering if someone would tell me how to claim money from a seller, would i get all the money back i gave?

Obzdadon , firstly i don't recommend sending back the player at your own cost to get a refund of the purchase price only. You would have lost some money and got nothing in the end.

What method did you use to fund the purchase via paypal? Was it credit card? If so, contact your credit card company to do a chargeback.

If you can convince your credit card company that it is a fraud, and it makes no sense to send the player back at your own cost when the seller sold you a hacked player in the first place, they might likely do the chargeback.

Paypal can't do sh*t about chargebacks, and very likely you should be able to get all your money back.

The seller Said he will give 'partial refund'. He hasnt told me how much yet
