Default Help identifying my MP4 player

Hello,

The other day i bought a noname MP4 player (MP4 Mobile Cinema).
Because i wanted to know a little bit more on this device i searched the internet. However i am a very confused on the brand/model i have.
For a pictures of the player look at:http://www.geocities.com/butchijo/MP4/UnitFront.jpg
Other (internal) pictures see bottom of message.

The firmware information is as follows:
2006/01/19
9.1.51
ACU7515_S75
2006/10/21

When i run the s1fwx utility i get this information:
s1fwx v3.0 - copyright (c) 2005 wiRe (http://www.s1mp3.de/)

---[ info ]--------------------------------------------------------------------
filename = 'dump.bin'
filetype = afi
md5 = 643A35A98376915DDCD50BCD427180EE

---[ info:afi ]----------------------------------------------------------------
file id = 'AFI '
vendor id = 0x6977
product id = 0x6552
version = 9.1.51
date = 00/00/0000

+---filename---+ +---size---+ +-type-+ +---+ +--chksum--+
| BRECF285.BIN | | 16kb | | F285 | | B | | FE24AED2 |
| FWIMAGE.FW | | 6mb | | | | I | | 383F104C |
| SYSINFO.BIN | | 192bytes | | | | | | EE081851 |
+--------------+ +----------+ +------+ +---+ +----------+

---[ info ]--------------------------------------------------------------------
filename = 'dump.bin.FWIMAGE.FW'
filetype = unknown
md5 = DA6A0D097E307AC52ED9B4AD551801FC
==================================================

When i run this utility with the above filenames i get errors: Can not find the file.

I opened up the unit and found besides the Samsung 1GB IC with the code: ACU 7515 (under the removed white label with the text: COY). So it is an Action Semiconductor chip. Also i noticed there is place to add an extra (1GB) memory chip. I believe the FM chip is: SPT SP3767AHN.

I can not find the motherboard ID. Most likely i need to open up the unit more. There is a white text on the motherboard ZOC BO-052. But i do not think this is the motherboard ID as a search on the internet did not give a result and it was also not listed in a MB database/overview of MP4 players i found on the internet.

It looks i get referred every time to an S1MP3 player. But these models have different firmware version numbers (like 3.x.x). Mine has 9.1.51. It looks like the version 3.x.x. is from Wilson. I'am not sure where the 9.x.x originates. Also when i search the internet with the vendor/product type i get for instance this same vendor/product with different firmware than my model (for instance: http://www.forumforfree.com/viewtopi...4&mforum=s1mp3)
I know you can expect everything with Chinese products but this is only confusing.

Bottom line can anybody identify this unit so i can get more information on this unit (like a better manual instead of the included manual that looked to be for an complete different model/firmware) or maybe some hack and backdoor information.

Hope somebody can help me.

Butch

Butch,

Did you get a firmware dump from your player? If so can you upload it somewhere please? My player used the same firmware (ACU7515_S75 9.1.51) but unfortunately died. It is now half alive with 9.0.48 but no vodeo/photos & problems with display. Would be grateful. BTW, my player looks like http://image.ec21.com/co/k/kobs265fc...CA02160988.jpg so it seems different players use same firmware. Mine is a 2" screen, what is yours? Flash is 1GB Samsung, small chip is SPT SP3767AHN, other IC is AK1022 (which seems to be a bit unusual). Anyhow, if possible I'd like to try it...
Cheers
Scatwell

scatwell , it's not possible to extract any versions above v9.0.43 at the moment.

Butch , you don't really need a user manual for these players. It's quite simple to operate them. To transfer music files to it, just connect via USB, go to its removable drive, and just copy and past files into the drive.

However, if you do want a manual, go to the Search Downloads here http://www.mympxplayer.org/dload.php?action=search
and search for Manual. But most likely it won't make any difference.

What do you want to do with the player?

It`s like an MP3 Player which plays Music CDs only.

s1clone is rumored to be able to dump the entire NAND flash (firmware and USB drive filesystem) but apparently has problems with writing a dump back to the device (don't try writing your dump back to the device unless it's dead and as a last resort, otherwise you might brick it). The problem is extracting the firmware in proper format from that dump.

Curious thing I noticed: "ZOC" and an eye-like logo suggests the "Zhongshan Ophthalmic Centre" -- which has absolutely nothing to do with this...
