Quickly - if you have a 2.5mm headphone jack, you'll find that earphones with 2.5mm native jack are not the best quality available. Much better off going with an adapter, and using either real iPod earphones, or whatever else you prefer. May I suggest dealextreme.com for the adapters... good quality, and usually only about $2US with free shipping. They ship using regular mail, so expect a 2 week delivery time.
