Distorted Sound on 2Gb MP4 Player
Hi all, I need help please!
I have a Soundwave 2GB MP4 player which i have since found out is actually a MultiUnit MPF334. The problem i have is that whenever i listen to music it sounds "wobbly" or as though you are underwater. I have tried deleting the music and re-uploading it. I have tried reformatting to both FAT & FAT32. I have also tried 7 different headsets with no difference to quality of sound. My son has exactly the same make and model and all of the music off mine plays perfectly on his - all headsets work as well. I found the MultiTech website and visited it to see if there was a downloads section (there was but empty) or a trouble shooting guide (there wasn't). In fact the website is in my opinion a waste of bandwidth! I go on holiday in a couple of days and would like to use my MP4. If i can't get it fixed then i'm gonna have to tell my son that HIS MP4 is broken but not to worry he can share mine - but that's not very paternal is it? Thanks for reading this and any advice you can give. |
i had the same problem with my sumvision kpac. heres what i did. took it apart, bent the two front pins inwards to make the earphone socket a tighter fit.

Thanks man,
Tried that - didn't make any difference - must admit though, it was a bitch to take apart!! Any other suggestions???? |
Skydoc , does it happen for every single file? What does it sound like when you tune into the FM radio instead?

Re: Distorted Sound on 2Gb MP4 Player
It happens with every music track i put on - even the samples downloaded from this site. All the tracks play perfectly well on my sons MP4.
As far as FM goes...even though i have it tuned to exactly the same station as my sons, i can hear the radio perfectly on his but not a sound on mine. do you think it might be a F/W issue? |
Re: Distorted Sound on 2Gb MP4 Player
If the player is new it might be a good idea to try and get a replacement
If you try and update the firmware it may kill the player, also It could be a hardware problem not a firmware problem |
Re: Distorted Sound on 2Gb MP4 Player
It's past it's warranty - my wife got it for me as a present and i've been abroad for quite a while so never actually did more than look at it and say thank you.
It's only the past couple of days that i actually decided to get it out of the box. Never mind - i'll just have to cook dinner tonight and sweet talk her into buying me a new one! |
If its unusable it might be worth trying to flash another firmware there are lots on this site, the hard part is finding the right one.
Need to start by looking at what version firmware it has in now and trying to find the closest match. |

Ver:00.26.1845
Date:2006-12-25 Is that what you mean? That's what is says on the MP4. On the disc it came with it has the following file: 0700C_1.79new_Soundwave_En_MLC.rfw Do i need to use this file and how do "flash Firmware"? I'm a complete noob at MP4's and stuff. |
Re: Distorted Sound on 2Gb MP4 Player
Yes you've got a Rockchip player.
The file ending in .rfw is the firmware. You have to install the ConsumerUpdate software from the cd on your computer. Then load the firmware into ConsumerUpdate. Go into update mode on your player via the settings menu and connect the usb cable, Click the update button on ConsumerUpdate to flash the firmware and wait for it to complete successful before disconnecting the USB You are lucky to get a firmware on your cd for this type of player. If this works would you be kind enough to upload it for others to use on this site please? |
