falchi , it's difficult to find the problem. But i suspect that some component for the screen had probably blown in the player.
Never do a firmware upgrade as it would 99% likely to brick your player instead.
If your player is still under warranty, contact your seller for an exchange. There is nothing you can do to the firmware as it is not supported by the extraction tool yet.
