Screen just goes white.
Screen just goes white.
Hi, my wife’s second generation imitation Nano has gone hey wire. She’s has had the worst luck with these imitation players, and it’s really frustrating to her because I have had great luck with mine. Her first one (2GB hacked to 4GB 1st generation nano knockoff) got stolen from our home Her Second one was only like .5 GB and would stop playing on her all the time. This is her third, it’s a 1gb that was hacked to read 2gb. I removed the hack by formatting the drive. It’s been working for a while, recently she cracked the glass on it. I removed the glass and put in a nice piece of plastic in it’s place, so that is all good. But now it the screen stopped working. It doesn’t display anything but white when you turn it on. It lights up very bright, but it’s just white nothing else. She says that if she hits the buttons right she can get it to play whatever song was on when it stopped working last. And if you hold the play button it will shut off like normal. So I’m not sure what is wrong with it. It’s seems like the screen just isn’t getting the signals it needs. Any advice? I was thinking of attempting to re-install the firmware, but I’m unfamiliar with that. Thanks ! |
I don't think it's a firmware issue, most likely the screen's gone kaput, sorry.

FourJacks , either the screen's gone, the firmware had sorta corrupted, or some other component is damaged in it.
Do you still remember what firmware version the player is using? Usually the easiest way out would be to exchange with your seller if it is still under warranty. |
The seller definitely won't be any help, she was a major prick with the whole "you sold me a hacked player" thing.
Plus My wife broke the glass. Do you think that has anything to do with it. I also don't remember what firmware it was running I've never looked. I could describe the welcome screen and the goodbye screen if that helps? At anyrate, I would like to try to reset the firmware. If it doesn't work, then it's dead. Could anyone give me a walk through for doing that? Thanks |
FourJacks , usually the 2nd gen nano clones are of v9.0.xx firmwares. i'll suggest you connect the player via USB and check if MP3 Utilities Disk Tools or Upgrade Tool could detect your player. From the Upgrade Tool, it should also display the current firmware version in it.
have a look at the version through this method first. |
Ok will do, and will post back tommorow,
thanks |

FourJacks , there are a few versions of MP3 Utilities available in the downloads section, you can just click on the Search Downloads link and type in MP3 Utilities.
Alternatively, here are a few versions. v4.15 http://www.mympxplayer.org/amv-conve...415-df635.html v4.13 http://www.mympxplayer.org/amv-conve...413-df604.html v4.10 http://www.mympxplayer.org/amv-conve...410-df568.html There are also older versions (v3.xx) in the downloads section. Install MP3 Utilities and use the Upgrade Tool to check for the installed firmware version. If it is v9.0.43 and below, you could extract, repair and re-flash the firmware back. If it is higher, then there are currently no extraction tools to support those versions. Check out the versions and let us know again. |
Re: Screen just goes white.
This is a hardware problem, don't bother with the firmware.

you should check to make sure the screen is plugged in all the way. my mp4 player had a white screen but still functioned. this happened after i opened it and removed the screen to look at some chips. well, after assembly it went white. i opened it back up to see the screen was "halfway" plugged in. make sure its plugged in all the way. let me know if this works out for you.
