Hello lipka,

I have a nano clone and I also use Linux, but I use Ubuntu. So far, I have not found any software for the nano clone MP4 players, but I continue to search. I only use my nano clone for MP3s right now, so it works well on Linux. However, the video format still needs to be converted through Windows.

If I find any good Linux applications for these nano clones, I will post about it on these forums. I am always searching for open source software for all my gadgets.

this string was a little bit ahead of where you are, and might help you. But in case you weren't aware there is a site with a ton of AMV You can probably find anything you want already in amv.And if you left a post explaining your dilema quite possibly somebody would convert it for you and upload it. You know how we do it ! Anyways Im sorry I couldn't be of more help. Don't waste too much time on this site waiting you could be stuck on stupid for a year the way things roll around here.http://videos-amv.mp4playerss.com/
If you really get in any trouble you will probably fair better herehttp://www.s1mp3.de/
Also there is mp3doctor that does support/recovery/ but the tech on there asks for a donation.

aztec13,

Thank you for posting this, as I'm sure it will be helpful.

I have had many problems getting Wine to run on my Ubuntu Linux machine... after much trial and tribulation, I am still not sure why I have such trouble with it, especially since I have a newer computer that should run it just fine.

I did get one small program to run on Wine, but pretty much nothing else I've tried since has worked. I have not gotten to know Wine inside and out, so I'm sure it's not Wine that is the problem, but rather my lack of putting in enough time to figure out how it works amongst various programs.

My dirty secret: I keep an old, slacker Winbox around, just for the purpose of using iTunes, and for converting videos to AMV for my Nano clone player.

I haven't run across Linux firmware to replace what is already used on these players... I assume that's what you are looking for.

No, there isn't anything like that I know of for Linux, at least not yet.

s1fwx is open-source, you can port it to Linux very easily.
