Static buzzing noise that never goes away

Hi.

I bought a nano clone mp4 from ebay a week ago. Before i bought it i read reviews of mp4 players, most of which said the sound quality was excellent and better than real ipods. well, when i used my mp4, the sound quality was nowhere near excellent. when i turn the player on, i hear a static noise that never goes away. it is very annoying especially when listening to quiet music, because the static buzzing noise is interfering with the song. does my player have a problem or does anyone else's make that same terrible noise? also, is this problem fixable? thanks in advance

eello123,

The static noise isn't normal that's for sure. I have heaps of players and none have the static noise.

What does it sound like with a different pair of earphones? Best to check in case it's the earphones that's the problem (best to 2-3 different pairs if you can).

Does it improve if you move the earphone connection into your player?

Re: nano clone mp4 sound quality?

hi, thanks for the quick reply. yes, i have tried different pairs of earphones, but the noise is still there...i guess i should return this for a new player.

If you wiggle the connection around, does it make the noise go away? If not, then yes, by all means get a replacement for it as this isn't normal.

Even if i wiggle around with the earphone connection, the noise is still there.
Are you saying that even if the volume is put to 0, no noise should be heard at all? cuz if that is the case, then my player has some bad problem.

eello123 , likely some component is damaged/faulty in your player.

If you reduce the volume all the way to 0, you should not hear anything (or at most very slight/soft static). If it is quite obvious at level 0 volume, then it is better to get it exchanged.
