Not able to write files bigger than 40kb on MacOS
I bought a Lenan PMP-2900 2Gb.
Although macosx recognizes the player, i am not able to write files bigger than 40kb. In Windows XP I don't have this problem :( . Any suggestion? Does anybody has the same problem? |
Hello.
Resident Apple Geek here. I found the cable that came with my rockchip player was not up to snuff. It worked well enough with my work laptop, but my mIni? Nope. Nor did it like being plugged into an unpowered USB hub. My first advice, then is to try it with a cable you know works with your Mac, preferably plugged straight into your computer. Also, my port is/was a bit loose (until I opened the thing and crimped the holder in a bit). I could start a transfer, then a slight touch could be enough to break the connection. So make sure it is connected and resting comfortable out of harm's way. Can you copy off the device to the Mac? If so, do it (or do it to a PC) then use Disk Utility to format it. I did it with no ill effect, and mine worked like a charm after that under both OS. If you are having issues still. Or if in the system profiler the device is not listed properly in the USB section, then you may want to do a quick Google for a developer's app called USB Prober. This will help identify exactly what the computer thinks is connected. But that's a last resort. Let's do everything else first. ;-) |
Re: macosx support question
Also ensure you use USB 2.0 compliant cable if your player is USB 2.0 capable.

Re: Not able to write files bigger than 40kb on MacOS
Hi, instead your suggestions i continue with the same problem.
both my powerbook and powermac, with MAC OSX 10.4.9, are not able to write or copy files bigger than 40kb. I have tried to format in FAT32 on windows xp, but the problem continued. Disk utility didn't work, the mac hangs with. The device is mounted properly automaticaly, and in system profile it apears with the name "rock mp3" with the follow information: ROCK MP3: Capacity: 1.94 GB Removable Media: Yes Detachable Drive: Yes BSD Name: disk1 Version: 1.00 Bus Power (mA): 500 Speed: Up to 480 Mb/sec Manufacturer: RockChip OS9 Drivers: No Product ID: 0x3203 Serial Number: USBV1.00 S.M.A.R.T. status: Not Supported Vendor ID: 0x071b . I'll apreciate some suggestion... i hate windows, i run out from any pc, so this player will be... Thanks for all. |
"Disk utility didn't work, the mac hangs with"
That can't be good. Does it recognize the disk at all? When it hangs, are you formatting the disk or the volume? |

Might not be the answer you're looking for, but if you hate windows and have a pc, the Rockchip works great on Linux!. |
