incorrect Adfuupfate.inf?

Hi everyone, i got a fake 8Gb iPod nano and now i'm having a serious problem.
It accidentally (and i mean "all by itself") shut off while formatting and now i'm in trouble since, when trying to revive it with the dead player recovery guide i encounter a little problem.

When i browse in search of the Adfuupdate.inf and correctly point to it, an error message comes out saying something like

"The specified folder does not contain hardware information"

Or something like that.. I'm not 100% sure about the translation, since my OS is in italian.

I even tried using the one that comes with MP3 Upgrade tools but still had no success.. don't tell me i have to throw it away, i used it for no more than a week, i wouldn't like it so much >_>

Please help me ^^"

Muco , try the ADFU system files here http://www.mympxplayer.org/driver-ad...les-df364.html

If it does not work, try installing ADFU using another computer.

As a last resort, you might want to consider getting an exchange with your seller. Since you have opened the player, what is the memory chip's serial number? That would be the largest rectangular chip.

Likely any replacement player would also be hacked, so you might want to consider between exhange or refund.

Re: incorrect Adfuupfate.inf?

Is it an Actions chipset? ADFU is only applicable to Actions chipset devices.

Another cause may be the PID and VID are different than specified in Adfuupdate.inf; to resolve, find the correct PID and VID under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Enum\USB and edit AdfuUpdate.inf with correct information.

@ lattesurf: no, i could never open it, since i can't do more than remove the bottom (not the back) part of the player and there's no way to extract it from it's case, at least, there has been no way so far.. if you know any way to help, i'm thanking you in advance =D

@lolita: i don't know about the chipset, since i could never fully open the mp3 player.
And i couldn't find that registry key, either..

@thanasisgr: Thanks, i'll try.

Thanks guys, i'll let you know... =D

Muco , is it a 2nd gen nano clone? A picture of the player would be good.

i've managed to have it recognized as an ADFU device but now while trying to load a new firmware it's been stuck for a few minutes on "downloading the restorable main program".. is that normal?

Muco , try uninstalling the current version and re-install another version of MP3 Utilities. There are many versions eg 3.68, 4.05, etc. As some versions tend to hang whilst flashing for some players.
