"File error" and viewing picture format

Anyone know how to get pictures to display on their mp4 player. My is from ebay and Hong Kong and has been a headache since it arrived yesterday....Finally figured out that videos had to be in .amv and it worked yesterday and will not play them today it says "file error".

I cannot figure out for the life of me what format pictures have to be in to display on the screen.

The only info I know about my player is it is a 8GB with a 2" screen. Not sure if you can post links on the forums here but If I am allowed I can show you a picture from the ebay website of the actual player. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Smoke20,

When you get "file error" messages, it's usually an indication that you have a hacked player. Considering also that you have a 8GB player, that also increases the chances of you having a hacked player.

I suggest you follow the instructions in this post here: How To: Removing Memory Hack.
It will help remove the "file error" messages and if all goes well, you should be able to view jpg photos after that.

Let us know of the result.

Well I followed your instructions as listed to a tee and in fact I do have a hacked player!!!!! My 8GB is now 1GB. Even after this I upload a video to it or a jpeg and I still get file error. Which formats will this mp4 player be compatible with or am I doing something wrong. and yes paypal is investigating my issue with this seller "jackysmallshop" on ebay

Smoke20,

Do you remember what the sample video file was?

Have you tried downloading some [SAMPLES] from this site and try putting that on your player to see if that plays? There are sample video and picture files you can put on your player to see if they play. It could be that the video is the wrong format and the picture is in a resolution that is too high for it to be displayed.....?

8Gb = 1GB.
