my MP4 player and Linux

Alright all you bright people out there, hopefully one of you can answer my how to question. A month or so back I bought an MP4 player that uses .mtv encoded video. The player had conversion software included with it. This is all excellent, however as one might expect, it's for windows. I'm currently dual booting XP and Ubuntu 7.04, but I use Ubuntu the bulk of the time (the ratio would look something like this: for every 6 months of Linux use add 1 week of XP use). I'd really prefer to not have to save the video to my flash drive, reboot my pc, boot up windows, convert the video, and then add it to my mp4 player, that's too much of a hassle I guess. I've tried to run the program under wine in ubuntu but I can't seem to get it to work. It's a standalone program and requires no installation to use. I can provide more information and possibly even a copy of the program in a rar or zip if necessary if that's required. I just need to- figure out how to get it up and running under wine, so I don't have to go through some drawn out process just to put video on my player. Alternately if anyone can direct me to an MTV converter that runs in linux, that will work just as well.

If the sofware won't run under Wine, you could install QEMU with a small Windows XP image and run the conversion software there. Since it is a real Windows environment under emulation, it should work but be a little slower.

What MP4 player do you have?
