Can't browse through my music/artists folder???
 

Hey guys; just got done syncing my glacier with windows media player 11....although ran into a problem. Everything plays fine; but for some reason when I want to go to the root music folder to access my artist folders; for some reason it always goes back to the original song I played when I first played my player. For example; I'll be listening to a song; and it's showing the id3 tag info while playing, right? well; I'll push pause to go into my 'local foler'; then navigate to root.....

well; when I get to the second to the point where I click the little dash ["/"] in the file browser to access my music folder; it takes abnormally longer than usual...and will finally open up the music folder showing my artists. Although; it will stay there for only maybe 1 second. Then immediately goes back to the song I was previously playing where it shows the id3 tag.

So; to sum it up; for some reason everytime I go to the root of my music folder; it kind of 'freezes' and immediately goes back to my previously selected song......


and since I can't browse through my artists; it makes for a REALLY long time of clicking through individual songs one-by-one just to get to the song I want....


...any ideas?

slayer666metallica , are you storing your music files all in the main root folder? Or do you create folders for different artistes?

well that's the thing; I let wmp 11 do all of the work for me;

it creates all of the artist folders and album folders automatically according to album info;;


and all of my music as a whole is just stored in a directory titled "F:/Music"

...

as of yesterday; I copied it to "F:/Record/Music" to see if it would make a difference at all; ..but it didn't. So it's gotten a little frustrating:/

slayer666metallica , i think i know where the problem lies.

How long does the player take to display the artistes folder, as you have described above?

If it is somewhere around the range of 7-10secs, then probably the player timed-out as there was no input and reverted back to the music playing screen.

What i can suggest is to randomly press the Left or Right button every 2-3secs whilst the player takes its own time to load the folders. Hopefully this would prevent the player from having any timeouts.

What is the capacity of the player after the format with MP3 Utilities?

I dont have this exact player but I am pretty sure the one I have has a similar chipset.
The file browsing on these players is not very good and can easily overload the player.
I dont think these players like too many folders. I have my music in about five seperate genre folders and have the file names done in an Artist. Song title format. It seems to work pretty well for me.

Hey guys; thanks and I personally think kope007 has the right idea here;

I shall try and use fewer folders because my player is really a 1gb [not 8GB...pshh..] and I currently have it as full as it can go so I shall try separating my music like kope does and I'll give some results;
