Good media manager to use with the MP4 players?
Does anyone know of a good media manager to use with the MP4 players?
Something along the lines of iTunes would be great. I tried the one that comes with MP3 Player Utilities 4.15 and my only concern about it is that it copies the files into sub folders under the artist names and and CD name. The MP4 player I have can not read all the files from sub folders. I could change the "folder" under options and go to that specific folder but is a pain in the butt I would just rather be able to add all files to the "root" folder. Any suggestions? |
Re: MP4 Player.
Hi! I use the iTunes Agent Software. Its free.
http://ita.sourceforge.net/download.html To get iTunes working with your player: 1) Open your My Documents folder. 2) Make a new folder and name it My iTunes. 3) Turn on your MP4 Player and with the USB cable, plug it into your computers USB port. 4) Click on the My Computer Icon. The Player's folder will say Removable Disk with a letter in brackets. The letter on your screen may be different then the letter G in the picture. 4) In the MP4 Player folder Create a new folder and name it My iTunes. 5) Start iTunes. On the bottom left hand corner you will see a cross. Click on it to create a new Playlist. Name it My MP Player 6) Start iTunes Agent. In your system tray, right click on the iTunes Agent Icon. Click on Perferences. 7) The iTunes Agent Preferences screen will appear. Click New In the Name Box type My iTunes. In the Synchronize Pattern box select iTunes from the drop down list. In the Music Folder select My iTunes from the drop down menu. In the Recognize by folder/file type My iTunes Associate with playlist: just leave it as Use device name... Click Save 8 - Go back to iTunes. Get the files you want. Drag and drop them into your My MP4 Player playlist. 9) In the System Tray on the iTunes Agent icon, right click and select Synchronize devices. A set of bars will appear over the System Tray indicating the synchronizing has begun and will disappear when its done. That's it. Now when you start the iTunes Agent, it will start iTunes automatically and when you plug in your MP4 Player into your USB port, with iTunes Agent running will detect your player automatically. Follow steps 8 to 9. Its an awesome program and I love it. I get all kinds of stuff from iTunes not just music. Its a one stop shop for free and paid media. |
Re: MP4 Player.
If you want something professional capable of managing huge collections then go for J River Media Center 12. Maybe is not for free, but can handle every aspect to maintain your collection... check it here.

Re: MP4 Player.
Thank you very much for the help. I tried iTunes Agent in the past but had no success with getting it setup. That "how to" you posted worked perfectly thank you for your time.

I got a Chinese iPod Nano 3rd generation clone, supposedly of 8GB but after reformatting its capacity was reduced to about 980 MB  (damn!) and I just wanted to use iTunes as you explain here. But, I always get synchronization errors (on iTunes Agent) before and after reformatting the MP3's memory. Can you tell me what can I do?? Thanks! |
