gemelo71 , the problem lies in that manufacturers copy each other. A new player manufacturer would likely buy a few players from the market and just copy the firmware/hardware.
Rockbox or similar kinds of firmware would only work for all if the hardware was constant throughout. These players that we have (clones), have varying hardware components, so such firmwares are not possible to be installed into these players as the firmware would simply crash due to different hardware.
