PMP Game King II
Is there any Firmware update for this player?
It has an 16 bit game emulator Game boy color / Game boy , NES , SNES. And maybe others. I haven't tried yet other 16 bit roms. Specifications: 320*240 TFT 256k 1 gb SD card up to 2gb A 1.3 camera interpolated to 4.9 megapixels Radio TTS 3.7 v 750 mAh battery even if they say 1100 mAh on the battery its something else. USB 1.1 Video format AVI but i suspect its AMV MP3 with the posibilty to load lyric files JPEG/BMP/GIF (no animation) Inside there is an ARM processor and 2 samsung memory chips , one 124mb the other 719. Korean made. On this page u can find some pictures with a player opened by someone. http://jonjay.multiply.com/photos/album/9/My_New_Toy Edit: And here are more info I found on wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Game_king-II |
Don't try to do a firmware upgrade, the risk is extremely high that it will kill your player. Even if you could de a succesfull upgrade it will never add extra functions to your player. Enjoy it like you bought it.

Re: PMP Game King II
I guess I will stick to the current firmware but I'm still curious about this player because I ahven't seen any info on this site about ARM chipset based players. And the hole ARM thing makes me wanna try to boot linux on it. Is the chipsets architecture similar to that from pdas and smartphones?
Does anybody know it's frequency? And still what firmware does it use? It says it has 1.56 SDK. |
Re: PMP Game King II
And now more info about the mysterious player.
I ran s1fwx but it doesn't detect it. I ran CheckUDisk and this is what I got: Name: PMP STAR DANDx UEDISK (USB1.1) Logic Driver: G:\ VID&PID: Vid_07c4&Pid_0000 Speed: full speed VendorID: PMP STAR ProductID: DANDx UEDISK Product Revision: 0100 Vendor Description: Product Description: Serial Number: So what is this player? It seams to be different from all other players on the site. Does anybody have anything similar? |
lxstoian , ARM chipset are usually used by the newer brandname players like Teclast, Meizu, and yours. The common players that most of the users have here are Actions (plays .AMV video) and Rockchip (plays .AVI video).

Re: PMP Game King II
So is this chipset better? Does it really use AVI?
I want to find out more info about the device. And is there any way to backup my firmware or modify it? So any other forum users with players with an ARM chipset? Will screenshots of the player help with the identification of the firmware? I forgot to specify another function: playing song or movies while reading an e-book or viewing picture. |
lxstoian , generally an ARM processor is better than Actions or Rockchip. They are as mentioned commonly found in Teclast, Meizu, and your player. Usually you'll need .AVI format for videos, but do check the sample video and as well the user manual.
I've not seen a firmware extractor for your type of player. But it's normal as there are also none for Teclast & Meizu as well. So without the extraction tool, you cannot backup your firmware. |
Re: PMP Game King II
Thanks for the info. I guess I have to hope it will never crash.
