Taking apart an iPlatinum

Sorry if this has been posted, did a few searches but didn't see it.

The headphone jack on my wife's iPlatinum (the iPod nano-esque one) started acting flakey, only putting out mono.. sound cutting in and out, etc. I'd imagine it's just a contact issue and i'm pretty confident i can fix it.

However, how do you get into this thing? Tried to pry up the panel at the buttom with the USB and audio jack but only managed to break the wrist band loop. Don't want to hurt anything else.. any guides or tricks into getting the metal case off?

number six,

Try this little tutorial here > http://www.mympxplayer.org/2ndgen-na...ly-asp279.html

If your nano is of the 1.5" variety you will have to remove the 'click wheel' first. This is achieved by lifting each side (top, bottom, left and right) of the wheel, carefully saparating it from the pads it's glued to. This glue will stay sticky so you can stick it back down when you're finished. Be careful not to break these pads or your 'wheel' will not re-attach.

Good luck

number six , a picture of your player would be good. Is your player the Gen1 (shiny metal back) or Gen2 (round edged) clone?

From your symptoms, it seems that it is very likely that the solder contact is loose or broken off from the circuit. In which, some minor soldering would fix the problem completely.
