Hi ODPhi2Hype.

Welcome to the forum. I have had hard errors screen and the disk errors screen. Reformatting the player has fixed the errors but it also erases all the files and songs from the player.

What kind of player do you have and where did you get it?

The instructions to reformat players is at:

that is the link to the player i have. i tried what you told me and it still says HARD ERROR. I have another player just like it, do you think i could use the clone tool to make a copy of the setup on the one that works and upload to the player i'm having problems on?

Hi ODPhiHype.

I've tried that on 2 clones and both died. I couldn't recover them once they died on me. If reformatting did not remove the error it sounds like a chip error, specially with a partition.

I would contact the seller and ask for a replacement. Some of the 2nd and 3rd generation clones do the same thing even though in some cases there is no error message. But when you copy and then delete a file, a partition in the chip will fail. Unfortunately you can't recover from this type of error.

I would definietly ask for a replacement.

ODPhi2Hype , it could also be that the FM chip is damaged or one (or more) of the solder on the pins broke off. Perhaps you could open it and do a visual inspection.

Thanks for all the help. I opened it up and a little pin has come undone. I don't have a solder gun so i won't be able to repair that. I have another problem now though. I had to recover my player using the guide for recovering a dead player and all it has is a white screen. Does this mean that now i have to find the correct firmware for it?
