Many thks for your comments and help (I hope so !). Thks Regards |
Re: display freeze on hourglass !
Hi,
1) sorry, but your memory is hacked. There is no 8GB player... 2) There is already a topic on hourglass by vtr http://www.mympxplayer.org/mp4-shows...ss-vt7512.html You need to get a new firmware, so you will get rid of your hourglass and even the memory hack will be gone. Normaly you will have 2GB real memory :? So download the adfuUpdate file in the download section and get your player into an ADFU Device. You will find all the needed information in the forum. Good Luck Jim |

Re: display freeze on hourglass !
Hi Jim, I'm coming toward you because I tried to follow you instructions but I failled !!! :cry:

Re: display freeze on hourglass !
Hello again Jim,
without comments from you because my question was asked only few hours ago !), I'm going to try to explain my problem. In fact I have 2 same mp4 player (8Go) bought from the same seller on eBay. One keep on working (with sometime some bugs !) and the other one got the "hourglass freeze" problem. I read carefully your topic you gave me about this "display freeze on hourglass " but I'm afraid I didn't really understood. 1st, I don't understand what is exactly the adfuUpdate.inf file !!! I found such a file in my Win XP directory and I tryed to use it as explain in the topic ! But I can't :evil: When I connect my fective player to usb port, driver is required to unstall a "USB device". after that, 2 cases : 1st case, I choice the way to "unstall the device from a list". I select "look for the best driver into this path" and I give the directory where I put a copy of the adfuUpdate file (outside from Win XP directory). When I confirm, my computer works and after few seconds, a message says the device wasn't unstall because no software was found to unstall it !!!! :?: :?: :?: 2nd case : I choice the way to "unstall the device from a list". I select "I'm going to choice the driver to be unstall" and after that I have a list of devices but not USB device !!! I tryed few ones but all gave the same result. I mean if I choice "choice all the devices" then "continue" , then "standard system device" (for manufacturer) and "disk supplied", then I specify the directory where I put a copy of the adfuUpdate file (outside from Win XP directory), then the message is alway the same : "The directory specified hasn't got any information about your device" :cry: :cry: :cry: What can I do ???? Please help me if you can :lol: May be I can use something from my other same mp4 player (before it becomes dead also !!!), but what ??? Many thks in advance for your appreciated comments. Regards Païkan |
Re: display freeze on hourglass !
Hi;
Plug-in your Player and don't install any driver. Go to "panneau de configuration" (I guess your Windows is in French) :oops: -> "Système" -> "Matériel" -> "Gestionnaire de périphériques" now, look if you can find your player there. It can be an "Périphérique inconnu" or "USB device" for example. anyway, make a right klick and choose "propriétés" -> "détail" Now, there, you will be able to read the device information which you have to write down. There you will find the identification you need. It will look like this : USB\VID_10D6&PID_6982\6&31B7E506&0&2 The VID and PID number is what we need to edit into AdfuUpdate.inf, in order that Windows knows that this file has hardware information for the selected device. Example: If your VID is 10D6 and your PID ff51, you have to change adfu file into this : [Upgrade] %USB\VID_10D6&PID_ff51.DeviceDesc%=MDisk.install,USB\VID_10D6&PID_ff51 and this last line : [Strings] MSFT="MP3 Player" MfgName="MP3 Player" USB\VID_10D6&PID_ff51.DeviceDesc="ADFU USB Device" The adfuUpdate.inf is located in your windows folder. If you have problems doing this, post me your information which you have found in "details". After you have changed your adfuUpdate.inf in your windows folder as described, unplug your player und plug him into another usb port in order that windows asks for drivers. From here on, you have to follow this : -> "Installer à partir d'une liste ou d'un emplacement spécifié (utilisateurs expérimentés 8) )" -> "Ne pas rechercher, je vais choisir lepilote à installer" -> "Disque fourni" Here, you get to your modified adfuUpdate.inf file located in your windows folder. And now you should have an "ADFU Device" 8) From now on, you finally will be able to load a new firmware with the latest update utility tool which you can find here in our download section. Good luck Best regards Jim |
Re: display freeze on hourglass !
Hi Jim, thks for your details.
The information I found in the "panneau de configuration" concerning my player are : USB\VID_10D6&PID_FF66\6&317479E3&0&1 So I understand my VID number is 10D6 and my PID number is FF66 (without any other carracters as \6&317479E3&0&1, correct ?) My adfuUpdate file is as follow : [Version] Signature="$CHICAGO$" Class=USB ;ClassGUID=1181f4a0-f284-11d2-9068-00609797ea5a} provider=%MSFT% DriverVer=08/18/2005,3.0.0.0 LayoutFile=layout.inf [Manufacturer] %MfgName%=Upgrade [Upgrade] %USB\VID_10D6&PID_8888.DeviceDesc%=MDisk.install,U SB\VID_10D6&PID_8888 %USB\VID_10D6&PID_ff51.DeviceDesc%=MDisk.install,U SB\VID_10D6&PID_ff51 %USB\VID_10D6&PID_ff61.DeviceDesc%=MDisk.install,U SB\VID_10D6&PID_ff61 ;[PreCopySection] ;HKR,,NoSetupUI,,1 [DestinationDirs] umss.files = 10,System32\Drivers [MDisk.install] CopyFiles=umss.files AddReg=umss.addreg [MDisk.install.NT] CopyFiles=umss.files AddReg=umss.addreg [MDisk.install.NT.Services] Addservice = AdfuUd, 0x00000002, AdfuUd_AddService [AdfuUd_AddService] DisplayName = %USB\VID_10D6&PID_1160.DeviceDesc% ServiceType = 1 ; SERVICE_KERNEL_DRIVER StartType = 3 ; SERVICE_DEMAND_START ErrorControl = 1 ; SERVICE_ERROR_NORMAL ServiceBinary = %10%\System32\Drivers\AdfuUd.sys LoadOrderGroup = Base [umss.addreg] HKR,,DevLoader,,*ntkern HKR,,NTMPDriver,,AdfuUd.SYS [umss.files] AdfuUd.sys [SourceDisksNames] 1000 = "USB Mass Storage Device",,, [SourceDisksFiles] AdfuUd.SYS = 1000 ;---------------------------------------------------------------; [Strings] MSFT="MP3 Player" MfgName="MP3 Player" USB\VID_10D6&PID_8888.DeviceDesc="USB ADFU Device" USB\VID_10D6&PID_ff51.DeviceDesc="USB 2.0 (FS) ADFU Device" USB\VID_10D6&PID_ff61.DeviceDesc="USB 2.0 (HS) ADFU Device" Do I have to add one additional line with my VID and PID numbers (and keep the other values shown) ? Or erase all the previous line with the previous values in order to keep only the values for the mp4 player I'm working on ? and finally, which firmware I have to download from the download section ? At worse, can I get the one from the other and same mp4 player I have that keeps on working under 8Go ??? !!! In such a case, How can I do ? Thank you very much Best regards Païkan |
Re: display freeze on hourglass !
Helloa;
make a security copy of your adfuUpdate.inf file delete all in your adfuUpdate.inf file and copy this into it : [hr:e9b5070a94] [Version] Signature="$CHICAGO$" Class=USB ;ClassGUID=1181f4a0-f284-11d2-9068-00609797ea5a} provider=%MSFT% DriverVer=08/18/2005,3.0.0.0 LayoutFile=layout.inf [Manufacturer] %MfgName%=Upgrade [Upgrade] %USB\VID_10D6&PID_ff66.DeviceDesc%=MDisk.install,U SB\VID_10D6&PID_ff66 ;[PreCopySection] ;HKR,,NoSetupUI,,1 [DestinationDirs] umss.files = 10,System32\Drivers [MDisk.install] CopyFiles=umss.files AddReg=umss.addreg [MDisk.install.NT] CopyFiles=umss.files AddReg=umss.addreg [MDisk.install.NT.Services] Addservice = AdfuUd, 0x00000002, AdfuUd_AddService [AdfuUd_AddService] DisplayName = %USB\VID_10D6&PID_ff66.DeviceDesc% ServiceType = 1 ; SERVICE_KERNEL_DRIVER StartType = 3 ; SERVICE_DEMAND_START ErrorControl = 1 ; SERVICE_ERROR_NORMAL ServiceBinary = %10%\System32\Drivers\AdfuUd.sys LoadOrderGroup = Base [umss.addreg] HKR,,DevLoader,,*ntkern HKR,,NTMPDriver,,AdfuUd.SYS [umss.files] AdfuUd.sys [SourceDisksNames] 1000 = "USB Mass Storage Device",,, [SourceDisksFiles] AdfuUd.SYS = 1000 ;---------------------------------------------------------------; [Strings] MSFT="MP3 Player" MfgName="MP3 Player" USB\VID_10D6&PID_ff66.DeviceDesc="USB 2.0 ADFU Device" [hr:e9b5070a94] Voilà, now plug in your player, and do the installation procedure as I mentioned in my last post with this new AdfuUpdate.inf file Now you will get an "ADFU Device" and you can user the "mp3 Player Utilities 4.05" (The "Upgrade Tool") and upgrade this firmware : http://www.uxcell.com/tech-support-d...39_glacier.zip Begin with version 3, this should work. after upgrading, unplug your player, insert the battery and then turn him on. the hourglass will show up and you have to wait for 1 or 2 minutes !! until the player boots with the new firmware for the first time ! Yeah :) your player works again, you now have to format him in windows and you will see your real amount of memory !! I guess, 2GB :D Best wishes Jim |
Re: display freeze on hourglass !
Hello Jim,,
Well I followed strictly your instruction but unfortunately, ... It failled :cry: :cry: :cry: ! Now the display stay totally black !!!! But yhe player is seen under window XP with 1Go for total and free memory !!! I made a low format following this topic : http://www.mympxplayer.org/how-to-re...ck-vt2400.html At now, I only used the version #3 for firmware upgrade. Still waiting for your help, if you can and want :wink: Many thks in advance, hoping we'll success soon Regards Païkan |
Re: display freeze on hourglass !
Sorry Jim,
I forgot to tell you I didn't touch the battery (remove or insert). It stay inside the mp4 player during all the process. thks Rgds Païkan |
Re: display freeze on hourglass !
Hello;
well, we are going to try aomething else; download this firmware : http://www.uxcell.com/tech-support-d...39_glacier.zip turn your player OFF remove the battery plug him in wait :) open the upgrade utility 4.05 and try one firmware. one of them should work. But, it is important to wait. After upgrading the firmware, unplug your player. put the battery inside, and turn him ON you should see a hourglass after 2 seconds. now, you have to wait for 1 - 2 minutes before he has loaded the new firmware for the first time. If you have no reaction at all, after turning him on, (no hourglass, no white screen,...) try to turn him OFF and ON again. Because, mine has big problems with the ON and OFF button. I normally have to turn him ON about 5 or 6 times until there is a reaction. (That's why I never turn him OFF with the button) Well, try the different firmwares, I am sure one will work :) Good luck Jim |
Re: display freeze on hourglass !
Hello Jim,
Well to remove the battery, I have to un-solder it because it si soldered on the electronic part !I can do it anyway if you consider I must do it ! Please comment. Also since I opened the player, I can read the information on chipset memory. I read : SAMSUNG 716 K9G8GO8UOM PC BO CSB540AB Can we get information about real memory capacity ? Regarding to the latest address you gave me to download firmwares, I got the same firmware files as I got previously by another address you gave me. Is it right ? Waiting for your kind comments. Thank you Regards Païkan |
Re: display freeze on hourglass !
Hi Paikan;
We missed out one single point :oops: You don't have a Glacier like player !!! This is a Glacier like player : http://www.dein-onlineshop.eu/images/ac6b_3.JPG You don't have to un-solder the battery at all in that case. You only have to find out which player do you have in order to get the right firmware. You player is OK, the memory hack has been deleted so far. He is now ready to upload a firmware. But the Glacier firmware can't work if your player is not the same as the one on the link above. Check the Gallery in order to find out what kind of player you have got, and then search for it in the download section. I think you are near the goal 8) keep contact Best regards Jim |
Re: display freeze on hourglass !
You're right Jim,
My player isn't a glacier one !!! It looks like this one : http://www.mympxplayer.org/here-asp81.html But as I have the same player (working !) I suppose I can get the firmware from the one that works ? Isn't it ? Can you know how to do to get a firmware from a player ? Thks Regards Païkan |
actually i was about to post here and wrongly post in purely adfu section but it helps me to run my uxcell mp3/4 player which may be i m gonna throw out of my window if that hourglass didn't disappear ;/ today
Thnx man :lol: |
Re: display freeze on hourglass !
Hi, you all
I have also one of these http://www.setbb.com/yaizas/images/smiles/mw_rant2.gif so called 8GB mp4 Glacier player, and I also experienced the hourglass frozen display. I followed the directions given by Jim, but the result has been aweful. At first everything was OK, I installed a proper adfuupdate file and I managed to have the player recognised as an ADFU device. Then I used MP3 Player Upgrade Tool for installing a new firmware, using the uxcell files. First I tried with v3. After waiting all the recommended times all I got was a ligthed blank screen. Then I tried with v2, which was not accepted as a suitable firmware by Upgrade Tool. Eventually I tried with v1, and this was even worse, since I got again a lighted blank screen but the player is not recognized anymore when I connect it to my PC, not even as an USB device. So now it looks like I should try the pin shortening trick, buy I don't feel very eager to, first because my memory chip is installed upside down compared to the one shown in the picture, so I'n mot sure of what pins should I sorten, and then because even if I succeeded having the player recognized, I have no firmware to install on it :( |
