Default Opening a Teclast C280 ???

Hello to all,

first of all, thanks for this great information source here which helped me a lot during the past weeks with my player.

I have a C280 (Teclast branded, 2 GB). The player really looks nice on the photos I've seen, so I decided to buy this player. I'm not disappointed, the sound is great, handling is ok if you practice a few days, and the menu screens also look great. But the rest of the firmware.... really ugly !!!

After two weeks I couldn't take it anymore and I themed the firmware, and also replaced the ugly font (thanks to knob and all the others for the tools !!!).

Now I'm really satisfied with my player - except for one thing: the battery is playing music for 1 hour maximum (with screen turned off) and 5 minutes (!) when playing photos. This was from the beginning and has nothing to do with my firmware modding....

Because I have no warranty (bought the player from second hand in Europe) I will have to open it and replace the battery.

So my question is: Has anybody ever opened a c280? I read abot the good chances to break the earphone jack in another thread - which I would like to avoid... :-)

That's all for the moment. I would be glad if someone could tell me his experience.

Thanks
zak4

I've read in www.teclasters.com that opening some players the risk of break the earphone jack is big. Anyway when was mounted there was that risk too and the player survive (I really don't know how many were broken before one survive )

I have open successfully my C260 and I learned that it have to be done without instruments... only by nails! going around from the earphone jack. If it get broken this can be fixed... that's something I've read too.

Come on Zak4!... at the end you will open it anyway so just be careful and proceed!

Let us now how this it ends.

Good luck!!

zak4 , most of the Teclast players uses a clip-type cover to secure the back and front casing. As DaremoS mentioned, using fingernails would usually be sufficient to pry open the casing.

i tried using a penknife sometime back and ended up getting a few scratches on the edges. i find it easier to pry from the on/off button side, then work my way to the earphone socket. As the casing sort of "hooks" around the socket. By the way, my player is a T29.

It`s like an MP3 Player which plays Music CDs only.

T39 doesn''t sound as good as my T29

OK, thank you both for the tips !!!

I thought the cover would be glued to the back casing, but it seems to be a kind of "snap in" mechanism, right? And I do get the pieces together again without glueing it?

Perhaps it would be a good idea to buy an external battery pack as well...

Good night

I managed to open the C280 without damage. It's not too difficult starting at the top right edge of the player and going around counterclockwise. No danger to damage the earphone jack at the C280.

Does anyone know the exact parameters of the battery ? I couldn't find anything about it. And another thing: Where is the firmware stored ? In the NAND memory chip ?

I also added some pictures in the gallery section.
