halitele 4gb mp4..how to upgrde firmware and what version?

ok people i am new here but i have read alot of your blogs about halitele off ebay i got sucked in and bought a 4gb mp4 off him...i want to know how to upgrade the firmware or even if there is a manual on here that i could read as far as troubleshotting goes....i did get some music onto the player but now i would like to start from scratch. i keep getting on some tracks format error..what the? the tracks only played not half a hour ago..is there anyway i could wipe all the crap off it and start again...long time reader..first time confused..lol!

thanks lattesurf i did as directed could it be that i have only 17mb registered in the memory? thsi cant be correct right? why is it only showing such a small memory?..should be at least i gig...oh no still confused!
