Default 4GB iNano - Firmare not recognised

I connected my mp3 player to my computer and opened up MP3 Player Upgrade Tool from MP3 Player Utilities 4.15 and it nothing came up under Device Firmware information or anywhere else, what could be the problem?

My MP3 player is:

iNano 4GB, plays AMV, has FM radio.

mcp2 , are you trying to recover a dead player?
If it is working properly, then it is likely that your player might not be an Actions chipset, as MP3 Utilities are specifically made for it.

It`s like an MP3 Player which plays Music CDs only.

My player is working perfectly.

How can I find out what chipset it uses?

Also, s1fwx cannot dump my firmware.

mcp2 , i missed the line in your earlier post where you said your player plays AMV files. If so, then your player is an Actions chipset.

What version is it currently using?

S1fwx v3.2 would only work with Actions chipsets with firmware v9.0.43 and below. It is very likely that your player might be using a newer version not yet supported.

If your player is working fine, i'll suggest not doing anything to the firmware, like updates and things like that. As usually you'll stand a better chance of bricking it instead.

However, i'll do suggest that you format your player as many 4GB players are usually hacked 1 or 2GB chips. The guide is here http://www.mympxplayer.org/viewtopic.php?t=2400

OK, thanks, I'll leave it alone for now

I'll also format it to see whether it is 4GB player or not.

Much appreciated
