Full Firmware files above v9.0.43 are very rare because they cannot be extracted by current tools. Unfortunately there are different versions of each firmware release for each hardware configuration. This makes it at best a nightmare, at worst impossible to locate the correct firmware file to revive "dead" players. However an s1clone image should enable you to revive your own player if it dies so I would do one now before too late! If your player is a "Glacier" style one, with the removable battery, peel off the sticky paper under the battery and get the chip numbers (particulary on the 2 largest chips). If you can see a board serial number, note that too. My firmware was 9.1.51 so this will prob not help me but could well help others.
Good luck

You have a 1GB Hynix flash memory chip, so it was definitely a hacked player. Your player is a Glacier style which personally I like (good size screen, removable battery, nice small shape and does not look like and IPOD!!). The processor is AK1025 which I believe is itself a copy of an Actions chip. My advice is DO NOT contemplate updating your firmware unless the player stops working completely as you will almost certainly kill it. You will have taken the clone image hopefully. Again, unless the player dies do not use this, even to check you can restore it, as it is possible that the s1clone program will not work properly writing the image file back to your flash. Saying that, I think it is currently your best chance of success if your player DID die.
Just to reiterate the advice because it is important. IF YOUR PLAYER IS WORKING DO NOT MESS ABOUT WITH TRYING TO CHANGE THE FIRMWARE, EVEN IF YOU THINK YOU MIGHT BENEFIT FROM A DIFFERENT VERSION, AS YOU WILL ALMOST CERTAINLY KILL IT.
Look at the posts on the forum, the vast majority are looking for firmware....
Scatwell
PS Please upload your clone file (www.megaupload.com or similar). I will try it even though my processor is AK1022 and I have a Samsung flash chip. Others may have more chance of success.

Blackcrusader,
Before you do anything about writing the clone back, please give following info:
1) Is the player still recognised by your computer as a USB device, or is it in ADFU mode, or not recognised at all?
2) When exactly did the player "die"? Was it immediately after you created the clone image, or did you do other things in between?
3) What happens when you turn the player on? Do you get hourglass, white screen or just black screen?
4) Are you sure battery is charged? Suggest you leave it on charger for an hour or so if you are just getting black screen?
Hear from you soon

Phew!!!
Remember to upload your clone image via www.megaupload.com & publish the link.
I'm sure there'll be lots of grateful people out there.
