im not going to do the memory hack until i get some help so please help me

blackcrusader , well seems like your player is a hacked 1GB chip. i'll suggest that you continue the procedure to remove the hack itself.

For videos, try encoding using MP3 Utilties v4.15 here http://www.mympxplayer.org/amv-conve...415-df635.html

ok thanks

Blackcrusader
Can I suggest that as a precaution you make a "clone" copy of your flash using s1clone which you can download from www.s1mp3.de
Then if your firmware gets corrupted at any time you should be able to restore your player, it is almost impossible to match the correct firmware to these sorts of player. Maybe best to do this BEFORE and AFTER removing memory hack. These cloned copies may also be of use to others so it would be helpful if you could upload them, perhaps with a photo of your player and the chip numbers inside. Also check the system settings and note down the firmware version that is installed.
This is what I "SHOULD" have done with a player I have, which worked great for a week then gave the dreaded perpetual hour glass....
Good luck

the new convert worked perfectly, thanks.

blackcrusader 1st Nov 2007 2:29 am

oh no i already removed my hack and i didn't clone mine. what can i do nows?

scatwell 1st Nov 2007 2:53 am

Should not be a problem, but I suggest you clone it now before you start using it properly. The less files you have on the flash disk the better, as this will reduce the size of the clone file you get. As I said, keep this safe and ideally upload it with as much info on your player as you can (it will then help others). Did you check your firmware version on your player settings menu?

blackcrusader 1st Nov 2007 3:15 am

i just checked it and its an Action 9.1.52.
LG mp3 player, QY-066FVO, TFT70023, 2007/10/16, Action 9.1.52
chip: HYNIX, KOR, HY27UT088G2M, TPC8, 741AA
im formatted and started cloning the player using the s1clone wizard.

i checked the firmware list and my firmware isn't even on the list, is this bad?

what does updating my firmware do and how will it benefit me?

scatwell 1st Nov 2007 3:50 am

Full Firmware files above v9.0.43 are very rare because they cannot be extracted by current tools. Unfortunately there are different versions of each firmware release for each hardware configuration. This makes it at best a nightmare, at worst impossible to locate the correct firmware file to revive "dead" players. However an s1clone image should enable you to revive your own player if it dies so I would do one now before too late! If your player is a "Glacier" style one, with the removable battery, peel off the sticky paper under the battery and get the chip numbers (particulary on the 2 largest chips). If you can see a board serial number, note that too. My firmware was 9.1.51 so this will prob not help me but could well help others.
Good luck

can you please tell me more details about my player?

blackcrusader 1st Nov 2007 4:08 am

if i do want to update my firmware, what file would i be looking for?

scatwell 1st Nov 2007 5:23 am

You have a 1GB Hynix flash memory chip, so it was definitely a hacked player. Your player is a Glacier style which personally I like (good size screen, removable battery, nice small shape and does not look like and IPOD!!). The processor is AK1025 which I believe is itself a copy of an Actions chip. My advice is DO NOT contemplate updating your firmware unless the player stops working completely as you will almost certainly kill it. You will have taken the clone image hopefully. Again, unless the player dies do not use this, even to check you can restore it, as it is possible that the s1clone program will not work properly writing the image file back to your flash. Saying that, I think it is currently your best chance of success if your player DID die.
Just to reiterate the advice because it is important. IF YOUR PLAYER IS WORKING DO NOT MESS ABOUT WITH TRYING TO CHANGE THE FIRMWARE, EVEN IF YOU THINK YOU MIGHT BENEFIT FROM A DIFFERENT VERSION, AS YOU WILL ALMOST CERTAINLY KILL IT.
Look at the posts on the forum, the vast majority are looking for firmware....

PS Please upload your clone file (www.megaupload.com or similar). I will try it even though my processor is AK1022 and I have a Samsung flash chip. Others may have more chance of success.

OMG after i read my player with the s1clone, my player died!!!
please help me

blackcrusader 1st Nov 2007 10:19 pm

should i just write back the clone thing i just made?

scatwell 2nd Nov 2007 2:37 am

Blackcrusader,
Before you do anything about writing the clone back, please give following info:
1) Is the player still recognised by your computer as a USB device, or is it in ADFU mode, or not recognised at all?
2) When exactly did the player "die"? Was it immediately after you created the clone image, or did you do other things in between?
3) What happens when you turn the player on? Do you get hourglass, white screen or just black screen?
4) Are you sure battery is charged? Suggest you leave it on charger for an hour or so if you are just getting black screen?
Hear from you soon

blackcrusader 2nd Nov 2007 2:42 am

1. Yes it is still recognised by my computer
2. i just cloned my player and then listened to one song and went to sleep. the next day it was died....
3. black screen
4. yes.

lol after i just connected it to the computer and then disconnected it, the player went back to normal. sorry about the trouble.

scatwell 2nd Nov 2007 2:54 am

Phew!!!
Remember to upload your clone image via www.megaupload.com & publish the link.
I'm sure there'll be lots of grateful people out there.

blackcrusader 2nd Nov 2007 2:55 am

should i reclone my flash because my other one has alot of trash in it?

scatwell 2nd Nov 2007 3:20 am

Please explain what you mean by a lot of trash. The clone file is a bit by bit copy of the contents of the flash so will look like a lot of random characters if you try & open it. What size is the clone file? The best way of getting the file small is to ensure you have minimum amount of files on your player and ideally have reformatted flash first. After you gey the clone file you can compress it using something 7z or zip.

blackcrusader 2nd Nov 2007 3:49 am

i clicked on format my player before cloning but when it started cloning it said, format player failed so the file has all of my stuff i previously had on it.

scatwell 2nd Nov 2007 3:57 am

All that will mean is that the clone file will be bigger (how big is it) and anyone successfully recovering will have your content. Unless file is huge (say over 500MB) or you have "embarrassing" material(!!??!!) it will not matter. Better if you are able to reformat first because file is smaller but thats only reason really.

blackcrusader 2nd Nov 2007 4:05 am

ohh is 500mbs big, my file is only 289 and i thought that was already big. lol I dont have any "embarrassing" things on it, but i do have a few dumb vids on it. is it just me or is the glaciers mp4 has very less pixels, evey video i put on there is blurry, or is it just the converter?

scatwell 2nd Nov 2007 4:51 am

I think the processor is barely capable of playing the vid, and the screens on the cloned players are probably cr@p anyway.
If you 7z or zip the file it'll be manageable for an upload

blackcrusader 2nd Nov 2007 5:00 am

ok. even though its a mp4 player, the player itself is too shit to play any movies..... i got ripped off big time....

Re: halitele 2gb 2" mp4

Hey guys, my player, also a glacier clone is dead and has some similar numbers, any idea what I can do as far as firmware? I tried the pack by alex2pb and got nothing. At some point I was trying a firmware and it froze at "displaying Communications Picture," and ever since, it fails to upgrade.

Do we have the same type?

Scatwell and Lordcatbert,
I have recently received one of these glacier knock-offs. I read this post and completed the flash clone before I start the de-hacking process. My chip info came up as HYNIX/SAMSUNG A514D3AD. I don't know if it will help, but I uploaded a copy of my flash clone on megaupload. The link is below. I just hope the de-hacking will work for me. Thanks...

Thanks. Could you also tell us the actual chip numbers on the circuit board? peel off sticky paper under battery. Who did you buy this from?

NautiWood 5th Nov 2007 6:36 am

I'm one of the halitele suckers I guess. I really haven't had too many problems except the format error issues. The larger of the two chips in mine have the follwoing two numbers:
HY27UT0868G2M and TPCB 732AA
The only readable number on the smaller of the two chips is:
ATJ2092N
Hope this helps someone else...

blackcrusader 11th Nov 2007 9:14 pm

for all those glacier users, im just wondering how long your battery last for?
because mine only last for like 1-2 hours.
