Rockship mp4 questions
Hi everybody,
I've recently bought a Chinese mp4 player with a brand called "Crown" (I recently found that the brand name for Chinese players is totally useless). After some googling I concluded that my player is a Rockship one, its a 2" 1GB with mini SD slot & FM radio, the firmware version is 00.00.0000 :) and its date is: 2004-01-22, when I read the included manual it mentioned something about firmware upgrade and a firmware image was supposed to be in the included CD (which is not) !!, and from what I have read in this forum there is no available tool that allow a user to extract the player firmware. http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/f...p/P1010412.jpg http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/f...p/P1010410.jpg http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/f...am_xp/menu.jpg Ok, now that I've introduced my MP4 player, I will start firing questions ... What I would like to know he following: 1. Is it possible to find a newer firmware image compatible with my player? 2. Is it possible to change the player theme knowing that I don't have a firmware to modify ? 3. Does this player support Playlists ? 4. I tried to use mp4 converters other than the included software but non of the converted video worked on my player (I used the same settings of the demo video included in the mp4 player (mp2 audio, 224x176 resolution, xvid codec)), what should I do? I will be grateful if any one can answer one or more of these question ... Thanks. |

Chance you have... 1 in 100. This is to mention to you that's practically impossible. I would choose to put pressure on the provider to get proper firmware. 2. If you don't have proper firmware it's not possible. Your player is a rockchip and there is no rockchip firmware extractor. 3. Rockchip doesn't support playlist. Only latest rockchip firmware of know makers (Teclast) are including it and working fine. This among other features that Teclast have add to its rockchip firmware. 4. You'll have to use the converter that comes with your player or any other that support MP2 for audio encoding. This is usually the trick with rockchip firmwares... ah... there is other trick which is turned video but that don't seem to be your case as your mention 224x176 instead of 176x224. Anyway concerning video conversion for rockchip players in this sites there is lots of threads covering such topic. I guess that this is your starting point for more doubts... we will help you gladly... that what this site is for. :) Welcome Hamade!! |
Ok DaremoS, thanks for your help, that confirms my conclusion, any way its a cheap player which means a cheap support.... I hope that someone can write or release a firmware extractor someday ..
