Link to huge Chinese firmware database?
Who knows if this is usable or not but see http://forum.s1mp3.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=7218
Looks to be a massive searchable database but in Chinese :x Database is www.s1mp3.net, associated forum is http://forum.s1mp3.net I tries to get into ftp sites but was not successful even though it indicated anonymous login was ok. If anyone manages to download anything useful, could they post a "how to"? |

Even when using google to translate the pages it is still more like Chinese Nightmare than Chinese Firmware.

Don't worry guys, I found a cool way to get into the servers and I am downloading them now. It might take some time hehe, maybe weeks, it's coming with 2-5 kb/s but when I finish it we'll find a way to post them here. Man this guys are really cool, the have organized them by display size! There are firmwares from 1.5 inch to 2.8 inch :D. Can't wait to get my hands on these juicy firmwares :D.

alex, you might consider to set up a www.googlepages.com site: it's for free and can store 100 MB/account and you can open as many accounts as you desire... something like http://s1firmwares.googlepages.com might still be available.

Hi mate! Thank you so much for your help. I have good news for you :). I inspected the downloads and it seems they have firmwares for very rare processors too... The AK series even. So let's make an effort and let's mirror the website. I am making a list with all the files we need to get now and I'll post it here as soon as I finish it (it's made manually).

Well I managed to index all the directorries except the last one wich is quite huge. I'll index that one a bit later. Here's some instructions: Each one of us will take one list at a time and download all the files. Then we'll pack them and I can upload them (I have a LAN T1 connection and it'll work pretty fast). All righty, choose the list you like the most. As you suggested, the best would be to download the 2" firmwares, this way you can try them too. Who knows, maybe you'll find a good one :).
About the rest, here's a very nice little FTP client that I use, it's called FTPWanader. It's freeware and it doesn't even need an install. http://www.pablosoftwaresolutions.co..._wanderer.html Oh, and after you start, please tell me your speed download speed for the files. It's absolutely horrible here. That sever simply doesn't send more than a few bytes/sec. |

Scatwell my friend, I say we don't download it because it's literally huge. I just found out that it's 500% bigger than i thought. It's virtually impossible to do this manually IMHO.

just tried to log in to that site using my web browser and some ftp software but neither anonymous nore dacheng worked for me. You got any better results?

Nope, I think you don't have to pay. Here's the proof: I got 4 files from them, but it took me 2 days :lol: . Scatwell these are 4 you. One of them might revive your player :).

ok, I found out that there is a "free" part and another (a lot bigger) one, where downloads are not free.

scatwell, it's the same here - link quality varies a lot, I imagine some poor guys sitting there validating every single ip-packet to conform chinese censorship regulations
