glacier type player
Hello Peoples,
First time poster and a noobie here lol. Ok, I bought a mp4 player on ebay from Hailitele. If I have known about hailitele I wouldn’t have bought my mp4 player from him on e-bay. So anyways here is my problem but first here is some info on my mp4 player. It’s a Glacier type of player, suppose to be a 4gig player which was memory hacked, which turned to be a 1gig player. I formatted the player according to the guide posted on this site, haven’t had a problem playing or viewing anything. The only problem is when I try to charge the player it doesn’t charge correctly. Here is the firmware info LG mp3 player QY-066FV0 TFI70023 2007/10/16 ACTv9.1.52 I have tried charging the player by usb connection and left the switch on the player on and left it for 3 hours, but the player would work only for about an half an hour. I also noticed when I tried charging but usb as well I seen the screen on the player show a image of a usb connection and the computer with zzz’s on both the usb and the computer. Is there suppose to be a little pick of a battery on the screen as well indicating the battery is charging? So after trying to charge the player by usb, I tired to charge the player by AC adaptor. I followed the guide on this side as same as charging the player by usb, I turned on the player connected it to the AC Adaptor and seen the both lights (red and green) where on. I checked 5 hours later and noticed that the green light was still on. I disconnected the player from the AC adaptor and tried to use the player and again it only lasted 20 mins. The sad thing is, I bought this player again from Hailitele, with a 7 day warranty and my warranty is up. Is there anything I can do to get properly charge this player?. Is there a firmware update that I can try or is it my battery?. Or am I better off getting a new battery? Or battery charger? Thanks for reading my post, if anyone could offer me some advice that would be great. Thank you, Newfie Chick NL, Canada |
Newfie_Chick , seems that the problem lies in the battery not holding its charge.
If the charging circuit was damaged, the battery wouldn't have charged at all, and you won't even get the short 20mins after each charge. A firmware update would Never fix the problem, and personally i do not recommend it as you will likely 99% brick it instead. Use firmware updates with caution and only do so for recovering Dead players only. Perhaps try using another battery. The glacier type player uses the Nokia battery, which is quite common, and you might have 1 lying around at home, or borrow from your friends. If found that the problem is in the battery itself, you could always either buy an original Nokia battery (which is not worth, considering it costs as much as the player), or you can buy non-nokia branded batteries from ebay for a few bucks. |
Re: glacier type player
Hi, lattesurf
I think I will go ahead and buy a new non-nokia branded battery and see what happens then. If the new battery doesn't charge while its in the player, I guess I will have to borrow a charger off a friend of mine. Thank you for your reply, your post to my question was very helpful. Thanks again :) Newfie Chick |
Re: glacier type player
if the connection between player and pc shows zzzzzzz, are you also having problems transferring the files from the PC into the player ?
I spent a week fiddling with my player because of a problem similar to what you described but i was also getting intermittent connectivity to several PCs. Then finally it stopped charging at all from charger and from PC. No green LED was lighting on the charger. I was about to change the battery, blaming it for all the mishaps. Last weekend however I decided to try a different USB cable and this resolved all my issues. Today it connects instantly and charges well. If you notice that the usb cable slides in without any effort and does not secure properly into the mp4 player port but there is a lot of sideways movement, try replacing it, the new cable I got fits securely in place and needs some pressure to plug into the player port. |
Re: glacier type player
Hi griffin,
I haven't had any trouble transferring files at all, Now I did noticed that the usb cable is loose and easy to move from side to side once connected to the player. So what the heck whats 10 dollar, I'll pick up a new usb cable and try it out. I'll post my findings later once i get it. Thanks for the advice, Newfie Chick |
Re: glacier type player
Hi griffin,
I picked up a new usb cable after, and noticed no changes to transferring files or battery charging. I did buy a new battery, desktop charger for 12 bucks Canadian on Fleabay. Should get it this week. Just thought i would give you an update on using a new usb cable. Newfie Chick |
