Not detected removable disk - Mp3 player disk tool
 

Hello everybody, and sorry if this topic has already been posted. I've looked for a "search" function in the forums but couldn't find it.

Anyway, this is not the reason of my post. I received today two 2GB players bought on ebay from power_player88. And unfortunately, both seems to be hacked. I probably bought two 1GB instead of two 2GB. But I wanna be sure of that. So I decided to follow the Lattesurf guide on how to reveal the true size of the memory. The problem is that I tried to start the mp3 player disk tool, but as soon as I do so, two error messages appear one after another, each telling the same "Not detected removable disk! Please check the disk connecting, or reboot system!"

Then the mp3 player disk tool interface appears, the drive selected is the good one, but still, capacity is shown at 0.00 mb, and under the partition and encrypt tab, there is no possibility to slide the bar.

I'm running under vista home premium. Could it have an influence on the process?

Benbef , check the player's installed firmware version. Go to the System/settings menu, and select Firmware Version. What does it say there?

There are 2 possibilities, either your player is not using an Actions chipset, or else MP3 Utilities is not compatible with Vista.

BTW, can you tell me : does "XTC 7515 20" make reference to the model of the player?

Benbef , usually the firmware version only tells you which group of firmware and chipset it uses. These players don't really have a "model", and chances are you won't be able to find any manufacturer's website for the particular "model".

However, it is possible that your player might be using the ACU7515 chipset.

For the formatting, try installing MP3 Utilities on an XP computer instead.

I switched for a pc equipped with XP, and the disk tool worked fine. Except that at step 3, once the slider slided to the left and clicked once more on start, the second removable disk refused to disappear. In my case, the first removable disk is 961 MB (which means that my player has affectively been hacked... damned!!), and the second player remains, at 0 bytes... If I check in the config menu of the player / mem info, it's written 961M, 0%, as you indicated in your procedure. So where is the problem? How can I get rid of this second removable disk which doesn't correspond to anything, and that I can't make disappear?

Thanks for your help, may it be Latte or anybody else. BTW, I'm immediately going to add power_player88 as another sob scammer.

Benbef , does your player have an external SD card slot? If so, then the drive with the 0 bytes is for it.

If no, then try going to the System/Settings menu, and select Online Mode. In there select Normal Only. Now try reconnecting the player and see if the extra drive disappears.

:wink: You are a wise person Latte. Indeed, my player has a mini sd slot, which eplains that another drive appears in My computer folder...

Hi my name is Gauron, i have the same model i tink, but other problem, my mp4 digital player, doesnt read the videos. I format the mp4 and when i want to play a video tells me empty disk. I tray format: mp4, amv, mp3. But still telling me Empty Disk. So please help, tnks any way i hope we can find a solutin. Bye
