Default Can I upload the firmware from my player

I have 2 seemingly identical TRIO 819F MP3/Video Players which were purchased at the same time.

The firmware for one is:

ACT2097_S72_1
2006/04/25
9.0.50

The firmware for the second is:

LSD_9112_11
2006-09-30
9.0.48

Note that although the second's version number is smaller, the date is more recent.

Although both players seem to work ok, the second one ( 9.0.48 ) seems to have a better user interface.

Can I upload the firmware from one of the units and download it to the other? Failing that, how do I go about finding the proper firmware update for my player?

Thanks

Zackery , the problem lies in that firmwares are hardware sensitive. It is likely that both players have some slight difference in hardware components. An incompatible firmware would render the player dead.

However, if you are adventurous enough, there is a new S1clone v1.3 developed by wiRe that could extract the firmwares off your player. See thread here http://www.mympxplayer.org/new-s1clone-v13-vt8057.html

i'll suggest that you extract a backup copy of the player that you are going to overwrite first. Just in case the new firmware does not work.

Why are clones called MP4 Players, when they don`t play .MP4 at all?
It`s like an MP3 Player which plays Music CDs only.

Default Re: Can I upload the firmware from my player

Thanks for the reply. So what you are saying is that despite the fact that they appear to be identical, they may actually differ in some respect (other than the firmware).

Does the S1Clone work with the 9.x.x version players? It seems like I read that at least one of the firmware extractors didn't work properly with these players.

Anyway, the player currently works, and I am not sure I want to take the chance of killing it. The main issue is that for one of the players, you can pause the movies, and with the other you cannot (if you click the pause button, it ends up staring the movie over when you start it again). This is really quite annoying.

Thanks for your help.
