does you MP4 player display odd file names? ie "ypX ypF
ok, so you just bought an chinese mp3/mp4 player and you have loaded up your songs, and when you go to play the songs, your player displays the name/title of the song as "ypX ypF ypG" or something like that, or even chinese symbols.
something like this (courtesy of jake921660)... http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/9831/albumpictn0.jpg well, i have an easy fix for you... you will need to delete all ID3 tags from every song on your player. doing so will only display the file name, ie "Snoop Dogg - Gin and Juice". I recently used TagScanner 5, build 514, that I downloaded from download.com, here... http://www.download.com/TagScanner/3...html?tag=lst-1 read the reviews, it works well  basically, all you do is run the .exe file to install. once installed open up the program. you will see a screen similar to this... http://i.d.com.com/i/dl/media/dlimag...489_large.jpeg once open, you will need to add the files that you wish to edit. you do this at the bottom of the screen, next to where it says "Path", there is a "folder", click the folder and browse to the directory that you wish to edit. I personally have all of my mp4 files in one folder already (i reformated my mp4 players music to 96kps, so i can fit ~700 songs on a 2gb player, be on the lookout for a how to on that as well). so after you choose the directory you want to edit, you need to click the "TAG editor" tab at the top. a new portion will show up on the right side of the screen, like this.... http://i.d.com.com/i/dl/media/dlimag...085_large.jpeg to make it easy, you need to select all files that you want to edit, you can do a mass edit by choosing all file (ctrl+A), then on the right side you need to DELETE all info from each field, they ALL must be blank. now once you have don that, you will need to click "save" on the lower right. it will take about 30 seconds to do about 500 songs on a good computer, older computers may take a bit longer, but it is a VERY quick process. once it completes, you then close the editor, and then reupload your songs to your player. here are some tips for some players, make a folder for each "group" of songs, limit groups to ~90 songs. do not go over 99 songs. this works for most nano clones. for example, i have 557 songs in 6 folders, "music1, music2, music3, etc..." now once your done uploading music, make sure you remove the device properly from your computer. hope this helps some of you. |
Re: does you MP4 player display odd file names? ie "ypX
I have the same issue with my 2 GB Nano Clone, but the weird thing is that I only get the "ypX ypF" file names displayed on one podcast that I regularly listen to. All of the rest of the file names are fine. :?
This is most helpful... thanks! I'm going to fire up my old Windows machine right now! |
your welcome.
on my player, i only had about 10 songs that it did this to as well. if i would delete the song entirely, the ypX ypF stuff just moved to the next song down on that playlist. really odd. i am sure it is some sort of glich in the firmware for my player. so i just deleted all of the ID3 tags from all of my MP4 music folder entries and now, not a single issue from any song what so ever. |
