ok , for some odd reason it works now, which means it may not work again in the future. I will probably need to get another usb cable because thats the most likely reason, its still a lose connection to the player.
I got some information about the memory chip and it said that mine might be a 1gb but i bought it becasue it was a 2gb. The properties says its two, but i know it can be hacked to show that. I guess i'll find out whether or not it is when ghost files start to appear.

Thanks again for you help, i reall appreciate it! I almost thought about throwing this one away and getting something diff. but i might stick with it.

gHOSTLYFIGURES , if this is the case, then i'll suggest that you format your player using MP3 Utilities Disk Tools to remove the hack, guide here http://www.mympxplayer.org/how-to-re...ck-vt2400.html

By having an existing hack on the player, you might encounter file storage problems in the near future, and as well as it increases the chance of the player having its firmware corrupted.

I think the first set of #'s the 8G means its a 1 gig if i'm not mistaken.

gHOSTLYFIGURES , yeap that's it. It's an 8Gigabit (1GigaByte) memory chip. Unless you have 2 of such chips on the board, it has been hacked.

i know you said the usb cable is probably fire wire, but mine has a very small end and an end thats a normal usb. The small end is rectangular with the top left & right corners at a slant.

Also I found an Firmware extracter, which i don't know if it'll work, but once i get a new cable that works I will extract the firmware and reformat the player. The only thing is, How do you put the firmware back in the player?

gHOSTLYFIGURES , that would be a Mini-USB plug, not firewire. It is one of the most common usb cables to be used nowadays. You should be able to get a replacement cable from any computer hardware store fairly easy.

For firmware extraction, you'll probably need S1clone v1.3 here http://www.s1mp3.de/tools.s1clone.html
This software would be able to extract and as well flash the firmware back to the player. However, it has just been released and we are not sure if it would work fully for your player.

it has 4 pins and its not like common mp3 cables or calculator cables

it s similar to something call a mini - B connection

Which one does your cable look like? Is it the 2nd from the left? Or the 1st?
