i've been searching and can't find one like it yet

gHOSTLYFIGURES 28th Nov 2007 7:06 pm

it has four pins
but the pins are on the top and bottom of the head
which makes it eight, but only four wire connect to it. Each wire has two pins one on top and then another on the bottom.

heres a link to a pic in the gallery of a player that looks like mine. You can't really see the usb , but you can at least see what player i'm talking about.

i know you said the usb cable is probably fire wire, but mine has a very small end and an end thats a normal usb. The small end is rectangular with the top left & right corners at a slant.

Also I found an Firmware extracter, which i don't know if it'll work, but once i get a new cable that works I will extract the firmware and reformat the player. The only thing is, How do you put the firmware back in the player?

Sounds exactly like the one I have - there are 4 pins at top & 4 at bottom, metal around 3 sides but not the bottom. The bottom has 2 grooves (presumably so it can locate in the socket) and the top has corners shaved off so its not perfect rectangle. Width c5.5mm, height c3mm, so smaller than standard mini usb plug. If you can, upload your s1clone image, I don't think our hardware will match but someone may benefit

I'm pretty sure its a 4 pin mini USB connector, see http://www.conec.com/section18/new.d...rt=18-13&dia=1
