Default [solved] MP3/ MP4 player, Windows doesn't recognize it

I recently purchased an mp3 player on ebay - whixh of course i'm not sure i'll ever do it again. The player say MP4 PLayer on it and looks very much like a glacier player or nexus which makes me think that it is some knock off or something. It didn't come with any drivers, a pc camera driver for some wierd reason , I tried shorting out the chip or capacitor, but that didn't work. So i'm stuck with an mp3 player that i can't put mp3s on

i need to know how i can get my computer to recognize it!!!!!

its firmware version is LG MP3 PLAYER QY-066FV0
TFT70023

It`s like an MP3 Player which plays Music CDs only.

gHOSTLYFIGURES , try using another USB cable. Some usb cables are faulty and causes connectivity problems.

Also ensure that you are directly connecting the player to the computer's usb port rather than via a hub.

If it works fine then don't try shorting it out again otherwise you'll probably end up needing to replace firmware which almost certainly you will have problems with as it's virtually impossible to get hold of the correct variant. But obviously it will not be much use if you cannot load music etc onto it.

Yes, try different USB cable. The possible problem you will have though is that I suspect you will need a firewire USB cable, which most of the Glaciers & lookalikes use, so it might not be as readily available. Does it charge ok via plug charger? Try switching off & on whilst connected to computer. Also try the control panel/system/device manager settings & see if there is any sign of it in there.
What chips does it have (look under sticky paper under battery)?

It has a hynix memory chip, it also charges fine when connected to computer. I took the usb cable apart at the ends and found out that one of the wires was not connected, so its possible that was the reason it didn't work. I 'll repair the wire and try it out soon. Thanks for the information, and it was a great help!

now theres a new problem, it connects to the computer, but it connects as two drive with 0 bytes of memory! i have know idea why. When connected , the properties says its an unknown file system. The screen on the player goes from a computer with z's to a computer with three dots before it - one dot being orange -

gHOSTLYFIGURES , does your player have an SD card slot? If so, the drive with the 0bytes capacity would be for it. The other drive would be the installed memory chip in the player itself.

When you disconnect the player and turn it off, then insert an SD card and plug back into the computer, both drives would now show with their capacities.

gHOSTLYFIGURES , just to check, was the wiring connected to the right pin?

If so, try formatting the player first.

Right Click on My Computer and select Manage, a new Computer Management window would open.

Click on Disk Management, and on the right you should be able to see your player's drive, perhaps as an unformatted drive.

Right click on it and select Format, and depending on the capacity, chose FAT for 2GB and below, and FAT32 for above 2GB.

Once formatted, see if now the player's drive functions?
